Isn't there a way of re-doing it? heating it up again and putting more pectin in (or something). I'll try and ask my mother.

Yes - she says boil it up again, and carry on boiling, and stirring.

I'm going to give you a top tip, Jean, even though I don't make jam.
Cook something.
Then see what it looks nearest to.
Then name it.
In your case, may I suggest that you have made ' Strawberry Compote Jam'.
Sorted.
This the patented Trub method of cooking and I am just off to make something with butter beans in it. I will name it, as usual, after it's cooked. Stress free cooking!

I've already done that, aubrey. There is a limit! I'm only passing on what she said. Have it out with her if you don't like it. (If it had worked I wouldn't have claimed credit. Honestly.)

(We have always sung Aubrey Strawberry to our cat. The one in the picture. To the tune of Ride of the Valkeries.)

Well, the stuff does come in useful for its metrical properties:
'Strawberry strawberry jam, in a strawberry strawberry jampot'
is how you remember the feet in the pentameter line of an elegiac couplet.
Not many peopkle know that.
(And even fewer care.)
