i love traditional sweet shops, the corner shop opposite Newport School,Leyton used to have jars of sherbet which you coulod by a bag of and stick your wet finger in and it came out yellow ! My mum is a demon for "american cream soda" sherbert...she'd steal it from babies she would! ;D AH

Rhubarb and custard, liquorice and blackcurrent come high on my list of favourties. Often the ones I fancy are unwrapped. Now, while this may save the planet and I won't be paying for the wrappers, I always discover them a few days later, congealed in the bag they were put in. Don't suggest a sweeet jar, because I eat sweets when I'm out, not at home - but can any of you budding sweet shopowners come up with a simple solution? Develop a liking for Travel Sweets?

Now Patrick, you spoke about prices. Well I remember when Black Jacks and Fruit Salads (those little chewy sweets individually wrapped) were four for a penny - that's one OLD penny. My mum used to give me 3d (that's three OLD pence) a day to spend on sweets after school. I used to by a penny bubble gum, a liquorice stick and four Black Jacks - they used to leave your tongue all black. I managed to buy some black jacks about 20 years ago in Asda. Hhaven't seen any since. Do they still sell them? Are BlackJacks disgusting? I used to love them when I was 10 and they were the only thing I spent my money on at the tuck shop. I'd be too scared to try them now in case I discovered they were vile. Part of the love was the price. Fruit Salads were for lightweights, though.
