I think it a bit misleading to call gherkins 'cucumbers': much the same as calling courgettes 'marrows'. Of course, technically they are, but of a variety suited to that purpose, not on that would be much use if left to grow to full size. Personally, I prefer what the link calls 'American' dill pickles - that is, the larger East European variety in a very light dill-flavoured vinegar (so light in fact, that even in the fridge they often grow mould on top)

I don't like them gerkin fings on Big Mac's, I pluck them off and use them as little frisbies. AH That's because you consider them vegetables, I'll bet. I consider them an abomination and an affront to human decency. AH
