Always thought these were just an excuse. I don't mean allergies here that do be serious sort of stuff that can kill - merely these things like dairy or wheat intolerances where folk find out they might get a bit of a rash if they eat something or go doolally. I've always seen it as a modern disease and a bit silly. Yet another name given to something that we have lived with for years.
In the usually selfish way that these things happen - I'm getting a horrid feeling that I'm not getting along with milk as well as I used to, and I've spent my life filling myself with it - even when on my own I would happily get through two pints a day! Still do. Now though if I have more than two cups of tea in the morning I feel uncomfortably full - a bit bloated and have to resort to water for a good while afterwards until it clears. Hope it's not something like that - I loves my dairy products I does!

Apparently the only sure-fire way to test for intolerances is to go on a diet of water, cabbage and pears for a week or so, they being the food virtually everyone can eat. Then gradually introduce other things and see if your body reacts.
Unless it is really serious, I might want to put up with the bloating.

Of course, cabbage intake has it's own downside! Pears are funny things though - I've never thought much of them - they are to apples what parsnips are to carrots.

Pat, if you're getting bloating a lot you really ought to have a word with your doctor.

Pat, if you're getting bloating a lot you really ought to have a word with your doctor. It's not 'bloating' as such - just more a feeling that the tea's taking a long time to go down. It doesn't always happen and it only happens with tea.

I think I may be intolerant to foods such as malt whisky and red wine, as every time I drink them I feel a bit odd, and then ill the next day. And it doesn't matter how much of them I drink; I'm still thirsty the next morning.
