I would never kill spiders. I'm not that bothered about how useful they are (sorry). I wouldn't kill wasps, either. They're all God's creatures. (I'm not sure how far down I'd go with that, though. And if our cats were after a wasp, it might get killed then, to stop it stinging them - our cats have really got no idea about that kind of thing. The last pair we had would hide under a bed if a wasp came in, but this lot... good grief.)
Sorry, where were we? Spiders, yes. Good things.

If I see 'em, I evict 'em.
Useful? Yes.

I'm laughing at all you spider appeasers. They try to return to their spot, you know. You remove them and they come right back in.
I killed two enormous ones last month.
I documented the first murder - in the chatroom, I believe - including the hunting it down and smashing it again and again and again, and the Lady Macbeth guilt I felt, out out damn spot, guilt pains in my arms, it was vair traumatic.
But it was an enormous beast! Palm of your hand stuff. I have never seen anything like it.
The second one was easier.
Same type. I reckoned it was the mate. It ran across the floor right in front of me and I froze but I knew what I had to do this time. I cornered it, it nearly escaped by crouching under a rug but I used my Poirot abilities and looked in all the right places til I found it.
Then I smashed it hard and repeatedly with a blunt object. It was a faster death than the first because I'd got better at it and there was less chasing and limping. And I didn't get the same guilt nightmares.
In fact I'm proud of myself and would kill again.
The huge one outside my window is more than welcome to stay there. It's fascinating to watch. Spiders really are amazing as long as they know their place.

You want to watch out that Daddy doesn't come looking for his babies!

... hunting it down and smashing it again and again and again... How COULD you? They are so beautiful! (I do kill slugs, though. Especially the hideous mottled ones that get into the kitchen during the night.)

(I do kill slugs, though. Especially the hideous mottled ones that get into the kitchen during the night.) You too huh! I have to salt the floorboards sometimes! The rest of the time I sit up all night and wait for them with a bloody big hammer! Plays havoc on the knees!
