Something like 12 young adults die every year, for no real reason. It happens. Though if you're gay it must be because of that.
I like the way Jan Moir says she's not homophobic. For Christ's sake, at least be honest. George Daws' (I can't remember his real name) ex dying becomes a symptom of society's caving in to gays' demands, though a man killing his children after a bad divorce says nothing about hetrosexuality. Be consistant, as well.
Also, why is it sanctimonious to say that someone is anti-gay?

It'll be something like accidental lethal overdose of alcohol and pills, won't it. I suppose it could be some natural cause but... Remind me who wrote this ?........... It was me. And?

She should either choose to write that civil partnerships are not the same as marriage (and give valid arguments), or choose to write that alternative lifestyles cause premature deaths (and give valid arguments), or choose to write that the post-mortem was a sham (and give....etc). Then it would be her opinion and fair enough. But she has just mixed up a load of old cobblers without logical links to her suppositions. It comes across as venting spleen rather than comment.

Well done SWL All this sanctamonious crap in the Guardian attacking Jan Moir for saying what a lot are thinking . Drink , drugs , swinging with a stranger and dying at 33 is a bit rum and the full picture may not have emerged , or is being covered up . What's to cover up? Extremely rich and handsome young man goes on holiday, has a few bevvies, a couple of spliffs (or was that not proved to be not on the day of his death) and hangs out with his pals and husband. So far, so completely and utterly and mindshatteringly normal. Unbeknownst to the young man, it was his last day on earth as his body was a timebomb and he could have died any time. Tragic and infrequent, but not unusual or unheard of. Seems a pretty everyday scenario to me, and to draw a conclusion of a 'cover-up' from it suggests levels of conspiracy theory-itis to new and hateful levels. I'm just glad the lad had a nice and happy last day on earth.

To be fair, The Guardian one time suggested to J Leslie that he should have expected the trouble he got into, considering the kind of life he was leading. That is something they would never have said to a gay man.

Thanks for pointing that out Aubrey .
Had this been a hetrosexual married couple . Say , Kate Winslett and Sam Mendes who had gone out on the town , picked up a bulgarian waiter and gone back for some Kate and waiter sex possibly using stimulants such as poppers , leaving Sam in another room on the couch long enough to die alone , the scrutiny would be rather more scrupulous I would suggest .

Is that what happened? How do you know that's what happened? Are you the Bulgarian? I've never seen any mention of poppers or waiter sex. Are you sure that's what happened and that you're not just projecting?

Are you sure that's what happened and that you're not just projecting? It was said that he slept on the sofa while his husband slept with the other man involved, and, to be fair, as ARF said, the newspapers would have made a real meal of that had they been heterosexuals. But I do find it sad that a young man has died. He looked a nice chap and everyone speaks kindly of him. At the end of it all, far better that he should have been a well liked person with no harm in him, whatever his sexual orientation. I know if it were my son I'd be shattered.
