Do you go for the usual Turkey and Christmas pud or are you a bit different - perhaps a goose? If you're a veggie what will you be cooking?
We have the usual turkey but I've also ordered a nice bit of sirloin. Beef is my favourite, but I get the turkey because everyone else thinks it's not Christmas unless we have it.
Christmas pudding is a must as far as I'm concerned, but it's usually only me that eats it! I love it with brandy butter and single cream - so not too much cholesterol there, then.

Our usual - Ham, with a bit of marmalade, Au Gratin potatoes, carrot swede etc. Pudding's a bit of no go at the moment - last year we had a rather scrummy "Butterscotch and Pecan nut" Chrimbo pud - from Sainsburys, but can't seem to find it this year. (haven't tried Googling - might do in a mo), so it might be their toffee cheesecake instead which is rather scrummy. We used to have my very own coffee/whisky soaked sponge with cream and mandarin oranges that I've made since I was little. Think BB has gon off it for a good eight years though. Oops! Forgot - we've got this toffee pavlova thing we got for nothing in the Co-op (spending our Divi!) We had about £50 this year!

Our local Somerfield is now a Co-op so I shall be building up my 'divi'. This year I only got £14 because we have a Co-op department store in Chelmsford where I only occasionally shop.

Do you go for the usual Turkey and Christmas pud or are you a bit different - perhaps a goose? Usually have turkey, but this year my son is doing all the catering, and he wants roast lamb. I live in Wales. Am I complaining? (I'll miss the leftover turkey sandwiches with pickled beetroot.) Parsnip, carrot, leek, sprouts, mashed potato, roast potatoes (with goose fat), red cabbage, several kinds of onion, cress, mint, unameit. Yorkshire pudding if I can persuade him to give it a go. Gravy. Xmas pudding flamed with navy rum, and custard (we don't like cream or the other fancy stuff). Fizzy wine from the Aldi. Czech lager. English and Dutch cheeses, water biscuits. Ace. [Tried goose years ago, but it all ended in honks.]

OH always likes turkey which I don't care for but end up cooking anyway. I prefer a nice roast pork with crackling.
I just got a turkey crown this year as I can't face days of leftovers.
Always have Christmas pud as I love it. With proper custard.

Never get bored with our ham - we sometimes have it at other timesin the year. Then it's Ham Salad Boxing Day and Ham Egg and Chips the day after - with sandwiches in between! Yum!

Ham is just posh SPAM.
As long as there are roast potatoes and a cheeseboard, none of the rest really matters.

Karen has decided that buying a ridiculously expensive turkey from a local farm shop is the way to go this year after buying one from the butcher last year and being impressed. I wanted goose but she never listens to me

That is a shame as goose is much nicer than boring old turkey.

I have the same as everyone else, but without the meat. I wish I could drink more, though.

I'm still partially reliant on Gothboy for cooking and shopping functions. As Christmas dinner will be just the two of us (and the district nurse) I had a disccussion with him re. what he needed to buy for the 25th.
He wisely pointed out that we didn't need a full turkey for the 2 of us, and said 'we'll just get one of those Bernard Matthew turkey things'.
I have a horrible picture in my mind of what he means . . . .
Fortunately Uberteen is coming home tonight and she can accompany me to the shops tomorrow (Gothboy won't let me go alone and he's had to go back to work) so I'll take charge of essential purchases . . .
My suggestion was that we just went round to Shimla Pinks and had a curry, but Gothboy is a traditionalist. He likes brussel sprouts and this is the only time of the year he gets them.

I think we're going to the new Chinkies down the road. Or we will when I get around to booking it. Do you think I'm too late?

It doesn't look as if I will be eating anythig as I have been SICK and am too scared to give my stomach anything else to cope with... Oh no! Poor you. Only water for 24 hours, then boring stuff like dry toast. You'll be right as ninepence by Christmas Day. Dr. everso

The worst of it is I have not lost a single ounce in weight! Yes, weight loss is always the upside of having a tummy bug. Bummer.
