Mr. E. and I were arguing tonight about which one of us will be marrying Raymond Blanc after our divorce becomes final.
Did anyone see his new series? The programme this evening was all about chocolate.
My god, we were sitting there (o.k., lolling there) with our stomachs full after finishing Toad in the Hole, potatoes, broccoli and peas, and yet we were still salivating at the things this man was making.
I have to marry him.

He's sort of holed up in his house at the moment...something to do with intruders in his garden... AH

Sorry Everso, you'll have to get in the queue...I've had my name down for if he becomes available for nearly 30 years!

I knew two women married to chefs who refused to do any cooking at home; when forced it was along the beans-on-toast line.
You'd be better off moving near one of M.Blac's restaurants and dining out once in a while.

Do you know, I haven't been able to get that programme out of my mind. I think it's his accent as well that does the trick with me. But the food, omg, he actually made a cup and saucer out of chocolate, then filled it with some coffee flavoured creamy goop and topped it with some foamy stuff. We were sitting watching, eyes bulging, lower lips slack and drooling....not a pretty sight.

Well tonight Raymond was cooking fish and coincidentally I'd made fish pie so Mr. E. and I got right into the programme as we were eating dinner.
We are both half in love with Raymond. I love his accent.

Last night it was winter vegetables. I'm sorry, Raymond, but I really can't see how a pumpkin is "amazing" or beetroot is "fantastic". However, I like how he makes mistakes in his kitchen and it's not edited out.
I love his accent too. If only I could train Mr. E. to speak with that accent...
Oh, and cook of course.

I like his catch-phrase, when he's judging those pathetic slobs who want to run restaurants (the very very really really godawfulest worst pair won it last time). "You may go." Better than working.

Me too.
But all his recipes require something totally stupid. Like a specialised thermometer. Or a fried sage leaf. Or seven types of beetroot. Or a fire extinguisher. I am still going to stick with Delia. Sorry.

I am still going to stick with Delia. Sorry. I agree, apart from the "sorry" bit. Delia Rules Letsby Avenue, OK. Talking of which, Everso will absolutely LURRRVE this! That has to be one of the best links I have ever stumbled across in the cause of the Crouch, and at least one of them is within easy biking distance of Castle Yutani!

It's a done deal -- I'm going to one of the OK Diners for a late lunch tomorrow. Sod Raymond Blanc and his fried bay leaves.

Can you report back, Weyland? I'd be interested to know what it's like because there's an OK Diner on the A1 in Notts, which bodes well for our trips to see our son in Edinburgh. If they play "Summertime Blues" all the better.

Anyone going to New York City -- I thoroughly recommend this diner. It's in the theatre district, near Times Square. Had breakfast there several times, and dinner some days as well, on two separate trips. Classic NYC food, and classic NYC service (bearing in mind that we're foreigners, and therefore treated gently -- relatively).

If they play "Summertime Blues" all the better. That would truly be Somethin' Else!Promise to tell me when you're planning to dine at the OK Diner on the A1. Given enough warning, I would love to lunch there with Mr & Mrs Everso. (Logistics no problem really -- I have friends not far from there, in Newark -- I could stay with them afterwards.) So -- C'mon Everybody!

Here's the Notts OK Diner on the A1, northbound. I will report back in detail after I've sampled another one tomorrow -- probably Cannock -- depends what I feel like.

Delia is evil. Delia is wonderful. I remember her when she was a young girl. I always trust her recipes and they always work.
