Thanks, Costal. It's my birthday present to myself. That's the spirit -- here's a hug.

Home made fish pie.
Now I'm tempted to have some custard - it was making the sauce what did it.

Hope you are ok, everso...................................xxxxx All's well Lil - thanks for asking. I have to have a 5 yearly check up because my mother died of colon cancer. As I said, it's a bummer (ho ho) but has to be done. Anyhow, nothing sinister was found, thank goodness.

By the way, fajitas today. Oh that rhymes! ;D Yesterday I had spicy chicken kebabs, sliced, in wholemeal pitta, with Italian salad plus red onion and jalapeños, German dressing, and chilli and garlic sauce. I needed the infusion of jalapeños to help me get over the Post Chat-Fiasco Stress Disorder. I'm still not well, so today it's probably some Lidl pork vindaloo out of the freezer, plus home-made tarka dhal, pilau rice, and a smidgeon of habanero (Scoville 100,000+).

Pork steaks, mash, peas, runner beans....followed by my finest Victoria sandwich cake...
by 'finest' I mean not the absolute worst one I've ever made...I'm not one of nature's bakers....

By the way, fajitas today. Oh that rhymes! ;D They're doing a survey involving fajitas on R4 You & Yours right now. Is/are fajitas the fashionable dinner-party dish of the chattering classes? [Classes almost rhymes with fajitas. . . . I'll get me poncho.]

[Classes almost rhymes with fajitas. . . . I'll get me poncho.]Yes, I was listening to it while having lunch. I'm quite concerned, actually, because I don't really like being fashionable in that respect. Our fajitas were from the packet, but very nice for all that. I first had fajitas about 15 years ago in a restaurant in Chelmsford, so it's taken quite a while for them to become fashionable. Did you hear what one woman had said about eating fajitas at a dinner party? Something about pigs round a trough. I was eating sardines on toast with my fingers at the time - so that's two meals on the trot I've had without using cutlery. Just call me Miss Piggy.

I first had fajitas when an American visitor brought me an instant fajita mix from North Carolina some time in the 80s. Pretty bland I thought, but nowadays they're pretty good. Mind you, he also brought me two jars of jalapeños -- first time I'd seen them. Nobody could call them bland. Been addicted ever since. He dropped one of the jars as he handed it to me at Schiphol and got the juice all over his Levis. He abandoned them shortly afterwards and bought a new pair in Amsterdam. More than three times what he paid for the same thing in Raleigh, NC. Call you Miss Piggy?! Moi!? Neverso.

Smoked haddock with a poached egg on top and a jacket potato, I think. That's if there's any smoked haddock knocking about in the freezer. I'm round my daughter's at the moment and can't remember if there's any.

Didn't have quite enough prawns though - and no sponions. It's basically; Baby prawns, couple of small tins of tuna, pasta twirls (not my favourite but it's what the recipe asks for), mushrooms and chopped Sponions. Pour over a cheese sauce, layer sliced tomatoes on top, sprinkle with more (grated) cheese and breadcrumbs.
