Agreed. Great work, Patrick! But you forgot the climax of the day -- the exotic oriental nightcap . . . Those Japanese really know how to charm a girl!

Man, I've had a fab day! We got in about an hour ago and we can hardly walk. Once we got to the West End we didn't use the Tube any more and walked everywhere. My feet are killing me. We had the most marvellous lunch at Clos Maggiore in Covent Garden, then, after lots of walking, a trip to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, we shimmied down to the London Eye and went for a ride. We missed out Westminster Abbey because we were running out of time and felt that it deserved a few hours there, which we didn't have. Then we went for tea at the Ritz. It was very posh and I drank about six cups of tea and ate lots of tiny sandwiches, scones with strawberry jam and cream, and two lovely pastries. Mr. E. ate loads of tiny sandwiches, two scones, jam and cream, a piece of fruit cake and three pastries. Jeez. Look, I'm just going to sort through the photos we took today, then I'll post them on The Mantelpiece. Thanks everyone for all your good wishes. See you all on Saturday at the party.

Are you following me around, Ev? I was at all those places except the restaurant and the Ritz (*) about a fortnight ago. That's Cleopatra's Needle behind your left shoulder in the Eye shot, and that's the bridge I met the chirpy Cockney sparra who told me about it on. It wasn't him what took the pics, was it? Glad you had a good day. Where did you park the lawn-mower? * One prefers the Savoy, of course. Though I was in the Market Porter bar that day.

Though I was in the Market Porter bar that day.We met up with the chirpy Cockney and he was telling us about some Rocker bloke he met a couple of weeks back, who spoke some strange foreign northern-type language, of which he understood only one word in twenty. Was that you? ;D We left the car in Chelmsford and the train took the strain, making it a much quicker journey. Driving up to London is a depressing experience, as you have to go through the East End, which has changed beyond all recognition. I still expect to see all the roads and buildings that I remember from my childhood, but it's all gone and there are bloody great fly-overs everywhere. However, at the end of the day, I'd have given anything to have been able to get into our car and drive home!

Right now I'm relishing a certain dullness and order in my life. I hope to escalate to a life of utter confusion in due course. It certainly sounds more exciting.
