I haven't done anything for Mother's Day since 1977. It's a mutual understanding that we don't bend to the will of the corporate world. Who needs a special day to tell your loved ones you love them? You can do that at any time!

You can do that at any time! Admirable! And in any case, Mothers' Day is not today in other countries. Go figure. . . . And yet you're still a fashion-slave to all the latest crazes, such as space-hoppers. And percolators.

what a cheerful lot you are Mothering Sunday came about as the time when the servants were allowed the Sundays in Lent before Easter to visit their mothers and to go to church with. its also a great excuse to hear from your children that have flown the nest and get loverly little home made cards from primary school age children.

I text my mum as she is on holiday but I took her to see the Alice in Wonderland film and went out for a meal after last week for mothers day (as she loves the book, it was her favourite book as a child).
Incidentally she really liked the film although I thought it was pretty average.

OOoh Noo no. The percolator purchase was after many years searching for one of the stove top ones. We had one but it's glass top had broken and you had to keep looking for something you could put upside down on the top to stop the coffee going everywhere. .....and Mr Hoppy was just a replacement. The boycotting Mother's day would go well, if my brother didn't keep spoiling things by still sending a card - but hey! He's Muvva's favourite anyway.

A lovely little miniature shrub rose in a pot and a card saying I'm a fab mum from my daughter A card from my son that my daughter made him buy. He was down for the weekend for my birthday party and claimed he'd been busy thinking about what to get for my birthday (he bought me a day having spa treatments - this Saturday and I can't wait - so I suppose I can excuse him). We've never gone in for extravagant presents for mother's or father's day, not for our own mums and dads and we've never encouraged our children to spend lots of money. Clinton Cards and M & S are rich enough.
