I'd missed "Rev." so far (it's 3 programmes in) so I just caught up with it on iPlayer. It's excellent! Quite funny - a sort of inner city Vicar of Dibley but without the crap acting.
Tom Hollander is very good in it. He has very nice hair.

Friend of mine asked if I'd seen it last week. Best Beloved said she saw the trailers but I don't remember them, so I had a look on iPlayer too - and quite enjoyed it. It's not 'laugh a minute' but the unfolding of the story (the broken window etc) was quite clever. .......and as for his rather 'demanding' wife. Well....... I tell you who his Bishop reminds me of (not physically, but by the 'acting') - I could see that part played by Nigel Hawthorne? I'm also enjoying the lack of a laughter track/"studio" audience.

I thought exactly the same thing while I was watching! The bloke reminds me of him very much. I thought Tom Hollander took the part of the Rev. very well. I love the character of Adoha who fancies the Rev.

I watched the first episode. On TV. At the scheduled time. I am not a rebel like you lot are.
I was bored out of my little mind, when I wasn't being naively optimistic that something good was about happen.
(Tom Hollander wrote it so he darn well should impress in the part. )

That sometimes happens, that a first episode isn't enough to get into it, so I was willing to try a second but when it came to it I just couldn't bring myself to watch. I might have watched Imagine instead.

Now I found the second one very funny. The Rev's wife complains that they're not having sex very often and she tells him her fantasies. At the same time, a vicar from a nearby church that's undergoing renovations, asks if he can bring his congregation to the Rev's church. As he's having trouble bringing in many people he agrees, with disastrous results.
Give it another try on iPlayer. Maybe I was just in the right frame of mind, but it appealed to me.

However, maybe we just can't agree on this. A bit like Triflegate really.

Shhh! Don't mention the trifles.!!!!
Colin is a bit like my window cleaner - always offering to do things you'd rather he didn't.

I love the crackhead that keeps turning up on their doorstep asking for the fare to his mother's funeral or whatever, even though she's died three times.

not at all! in fact i know that to be untrue.. as i mentioned.. i gave it one minute.. ONE MINUTE!!! Before deciding it was not for me..i was probly unfair on the programme, but life is short, and we make decisions in an instant..it may well be the greatest comedy ever made, but i am sure i will live without it just fine so.... nothing really matters does it?

It made me laugh. It's a bit rude but in a nice way.

No one's got a crap sense of humour - look at contact ads - everyone says GSOH: no one says BSOH.
That said, I've got a great sense of humour. What really cracks me up is Frank Zappa listing types of sausages in the middle of a song, or saying "Tell 'em what they win Bob," or "Pocket Fisherman," or "ARF!" in a quiet bit.
I saw about a minute of the vicar programme while I was setting the video to record something (Wallander?). It looked quite good.

It IS good, Aubrey.
At least I think so, but I'm still worried.

It IS good, Aubrey. At least I think so, but I'm still worried. S'How I feel after last nights. It's coming at us from a completely differnet angle and a bit difficult to work out or cope with.

I enjoyed last night's but it wasn't as funny as the second episode, or even last week's. Hope it doesn't start going downhill after all this. Tom Hollander is rather sweet actually. I'm getting a bit of an old lady crush on him. Shame he looks a bit short though. Not that there's anything wrong with being short, but when you're quite tall like me, you have to consider these things. I mean, we couldn't date or anything. And we'd look daft doing a slow dance. But there, I'm getting ahead of myself. He hasn't even asked me out yet. He doesn't know what he's missing.
