Beginning looks oddly familiar! A brief sojourn across the 'net tells me that "Walking Dead" comic was out in 2002 - at the same time 28 Days Later was being written. So who was actually first? Intriguing.

Intriguing. You'll see a lot of this in future zombie things, it's pretty expensive and soaks up film/pages to tell about how it all happened and what the causes are. I like being flung in at the deep end anyway...roll credits and before you know it there are hordes of "infected" or "zombies" looking to tear you apart...RUN!!! ;D AH

Day of the Triffids used the same idea, as well.
I've just reaslised that I've read the first volume of the comic. I'm off to the library this afternoon, so I'll try to get the next one. It is a bit soapy (in that it is never supposed to end; and there is some sufff about relationships) but it has some good bits - quite scary, I mean.

I have the Triffids DVD (Original BBC mini-series with John Duttine). Flipping awesome.
I also have the original BBC "Survivors" series which is also top draw!

The creator said he is willing to kill off the entire cast if they start to bore him or if he runs out of ideas...he said he'd considered just starting an issue with a bunch of other survivors doing a bit of scavenging and finding all the heroes as zombies. Kind of like the first Night of the..., where the woman's brother turns up at the house.

You can pick up all three original series (38 episodes) in nice little DVD box set for £22 at Amazon. Treat yourself (or Mr Jack). The original 6 episode Day of the Triffids DVD series can be had for £4 at the same place. Both are genuinely brilliant post apocalyptic dramas IMO. AH
