Bon Voyage, Everso. Have a wonderful time. Hurry back. Give my regards to Broadway, Remember me to Herald Square, Tell all the gang at Forty-Second Street, That I will soon be there; Whisper of how I'm yearning To mingle with the old time throng, Give my regards to old Broadway, And say that I'll be there e'er long.
Say hello to dear old Coney Isle, If there you chance to be, When you're at the Waldorf have a smile, And charge it up to me; we? Stub Crouch...Mention our name ev'ry place you go, As 'round the town you roam.... ... sigh. I miss her already.

Here I am! My god, I'm a leetle bit drunk, but what the heck.
New York is been and gone and we're now in Virginia at a Holiday Inn that is excellent and lets you use their internet.
New York was fab. I stood in Broadway and Herald Square. I roamed around Central Park. I experienced Time Square. I did lots of other things too. A fuller report when I return.
Mr. E. and I had an altercation this afternoon trying to find our way out of Washington (we caught the train from NYC to Washington then picked up our hire car as we thought it wouldn't be so frightening to be driving in Washington as opposed to NYC). Well, we took the wrong road and, of course, it was all my fault. There was much shouting and effing and blinding, but we found our way on to the I66 and are now at a place which is quaintly called Front Royal, before beginning our journey down the Appalachians (the Blue Ridge Parkway) to North Carolina.
I'll try to catch up with you all later if I can gain internet access.
Remember: I love you all!
;D ;D ;D

ELLLLLOOOOO YOU!!!!!! Glad you are having a loverly time! ~hug~ What are you doing up at this hour? Honestly, I go away for a couple of weeks and everyone just does as they like! I just had dinner and, man, I'm so full. We shared a bottle of wine and I feel pleasantly light-headed. I had baby ribs (I think they were pork, rather than human, although it's hard to tell) and then pecan pie and liqueur coffee. Obviously from the dieter's menu.

Yes, we want a full report. Is there anything in New York to interest a man who hates shopping, is left cold by art galleries and can't walk far? If so, I might persuade Jack to go.

Ev! How wonderful to get these messages from you out of the blue. Made my day, you have. In my experience it's actually easier to drive in NYC than, say, Boston. It's the grid and one-way systems. I was terrified after Boston, but found NYC a piece of cake by comparison. Dunno about Washington. NO MORE ARGUING!

Have a wonderful time Everso. Try and arrange a 'hello Stubbies' or 'stay fluffy' to be illuminated in Times Square.

i havent actually seen Deliverance Weyland, althou i have seen the duelling banjos scene from it many many times as my father had recorded it off of the telly on his vhs video recorder and kept rewinding that bit over and over and over and over again, like a skellington advertising maxell video-tapes to a bastardised version of a buddy holly hit... i think he was a little bit in love with that scene, or at least the music of it.. i hope our Ev is safe from crazy banjo wielding cornetto heads.

Well, I'm back. We arrived this morning and I'm pretty shattered. We really MUST go Upper Class next time - steerage just isn't for me I'm afraid. ;D I mentioned as much to Mr. E. but he wasn't impressed. Actually, the flight wasn't that bad, but the food was diabolical. Fortunately, we made sure we had a damn good lunch at the airport so it didn't matter too much. New York was wonderful. I fell in love with it instantly. On the first day there, which was beautiful and sunny, we spent the whole day in Central Park. The weather wasn't brilliant after that and by the time the last day came it was misty and we couldn't go up the Empire State Building because it was wreathed in cloud. We saw the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (fascinating) and we walked miles and saw just about everything we wanted to see. Our Smoky Mountains trip was great and we stayed at the best B & B in the world. The people who run it couldn't do enough for us. The weather was a bit dicey driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway and in the end we had to come off it because it was getting dangerous. I think we got the tail end of the tropical storm that hit the southern states. Weyland, I've never seen so many bikers (motorbikers I mean) on the Parkway. It's obviously the place to go. Man, you should have seen some of the Harleys - they were as luxurious as cars. I think Mr. E. took a photo of one so I'll post it on Photofit in due course, along with some other photos. Our last couple of days were in Washington, which I hadn't been that bothered about visiting, but which turned out to be a super place. Again, we walked our feet off. And, Trubbs, we saw the White House. Just as we were walking back to our hotel a cavalcade of cars streamed out of the side gate and we were sure The Man was in one of them, there was such a fuss with motorbike outriders and sirens blaring. Mr. E. took some video so I'll try to upload some of it on to Youtube. (I think Obama was waving to me, but I can't be sure) Anyway, I don't want to bore everyone, but suffice it to say we had a great time. And now we have to pay the bills.

Welcome back, Ev! I was beginning to worry. About pining away. The Big Question is this: how many pairs of shoes did you a) take with you, b) wear, c) buy? We MUST be told!
