That's about as wrong as it could be, Weyland. The picture would have been taken in about 1945.

You sod. Did you recognise the picture? I'm ashamed to say that I cheated, Aubrey, but I'm not saying how.

If you right clicked on the picture you cwould have seen the name of it, which I tried to change but couldn't (Young Frank). And knowing the kind of thing I'm always going on about...
Someone on another site said it looked like him, but I've never thought that.

Someone on another site said it looked like him, but I've never thought that. I looked at the filename and thought "Frank Bough!", as you do. But the clothing shouted "Merkin!", so I considered famous colonial Franks. Sinatra didn't fit, kwyte fwankly, and Mr Zappa came to mind next, naturally. The rest is history. I suppose there might be a resemblance, but only in hindsight. You should've renamed it before upload. Good game.

Well, I uploaded it years ago, for another purpose. It was the photograph used the back cover of the hardback edition of his (kind of) autobiography. There were cartoons throughout the book based on it - FZ as a five year old being pushed off stage, testifying before Congress, etc. Then when the paperback came out, to save a few pence a copy the photograph wasn't included, making the cartoons baffling to anyone who hadn't seen the hardback edition. This was going to be the reveal:

Nice one, Aubrey. New conundrum: That's Prisoner Number 5134970303, Elvis Aaron "Babyface" Presley, when he was in Kilmainham for public indecency (wearing blue shoes on the Halfpenny Bridge).

Yes - that's where I'd seen that picture before. I did recognise it.

Yes, it's the jailbird. He didn't change, did he.
Elvis the brand is such a phenomenon that I forgot he was any good. He is though. I'm going to have an Elvis week this week to remind myself.

Yes, it's the jailbird. He didn't change, did he. No, he didn't. I DID recognise him. Probably down to a healthy diet. Strangely enough, Jailhouse Rock is probably my favourite Elvis track. That and All Shook Up. Not that I'm a big fan. And I prefer the original version of Blue Suede Shoes, by Carl Perkins, the bloke who wrote it.

Did I ever tell you about the time we were at a quiz evening and one of the questions in the music round was "Who played Rhythm Section?" Just that, nothing else. After a moment's thought, Mr. E. said "The Purple Gang" He was the hero of the evening.
