i used to like the Goodies when i was a lad. however, the giant cat trashing old londinium town and the goodies being chased by a giant Dougal used to give me nightmares. i was not comfortable with incongruous juxtoposition as a child. nowadays i embrace it. vive la goodies!

Saturday -- 20:00 today, BBC2 -- Return of the GoodiesIm out at a gig tonight, is it worth recording? i remember watching the Goodies as a child, and it made me larrff ( althou the giant dougal and the giant cat scared me a bit) but is it funny to a grown up? like in the same way i used to watch that 60s batman show with adam west as a kid, and i thought it was brilliant, and completely serious, only when i watched it as a grown up did i realise how silly and camp it was. ( still good though, but in a completely different way|!)

And I like them all still in their own special ways. I reckon Graham Garden is one of the sharpest people around. I think the Goodies should take on the Eggheads, just the three of them. Batman: And remember, you kids watching at home -- we can't fly. Don't try.Robin: Holy broken bones, Batman!~ I saw Jo Brand again in Oswestry yesterday. That's the third time. And every time it wasn't her. I think she'd doing it on purpose.

Batman technically shouldnt be classed as a superhero- as- despite your comment Weyland, he could not fly, he had no superpowers whatsoever.. in some respects you have to say fair play to the guy, getting all dressed up in that gear and fighting crime when he had no special powers, just to avenge the murder of his parents, but technically, he aint 'super' just a bloke in a funny costume with a good car. whats jo brand up to then? sometimes when i go to st leonards on sea , i see various people who like like people from out of 80s sitcoms. i've seen freddy boswell from Bread, and Pauline Qwuirke from birds of a feather. i saw a few different pauline Qwuirkes, actually. i will record the Goodies then. cheers for the heads up.

Sometimes they would deliver a homily at the end, before the "same bat-time, same bat-channel" stuff. Read it again.

OK apologies.. still, i aint listening to what batman says, he is just a normal human man in a funny costume with a good car.

I like Andover - it's smaller than Chelmsford, and if I didn't have ties in Essex, I'd move down to Hampshire. The areas around the River Test are lovely. Not breathtaking like, say, the West Country or Yorkshire, but just very English and nice.

Despite what lots of people think, parts of Essex are very pretty indeed, especially in the north of the county.

Despite what lots of people think, parts of Essex are very pretty indeed, especially in the north of the county. I can vouch for that. I particularly like Mistley and the estuary there. And East Bergholt and Flatford, not far to the west. Don't know any other bits, except main roads and Harwich, which isn't exactly the tourist's dream. And I've been to Clacton, but only for lunch. While I was there I got talking to an old bloke who had lived two streets from where I was born, and knew people I knew.
