Did anyone watch this tonight? I stood it for about half an hour. None of the characters were real to me, and frankly I couldn't care less what happens to any of them.
Shan't be watching it again.
On the other hand, I WILL be watching Jimmy McGovern's "Accused" - the second one is on tomorrow night. Last week's was very good.

Oh! That's a shame. I was going to have a look on the net, after all - Jim Broadbent!!! I suppose his is just a bit part in between reminiscences then?

Yes, Jim Broadbent appears in between bits. To be honest, I didn't watch it all, and gave up half way through. I couldn't form any attachment to the characters and I didn't think it was particularly well acted either. They've been advertising it for a while and I was looking forward to it, which is a shame.

I couldn't watch it either. Most of the characters were just annoying, and it wasn't as deep as it thought it was (like most literary stuff).
I enjoyed Miss Marple (Joan Hickson) much more. And Rebus.

I suppose there were a couple of nice rude bits (if you like that sort of thing - Mr. E. sat up and paid attention anyway) but, as you say Aubrey, the characters were annoying. I could have cheerfully slapped a couple of them.

They weren't that rude, though. You didn't see anything. And the woman kept the sheet up over her chest afterwards ("It's ok, love - he's already seen them.").
Anyway, I was watching it with my mother, for christ's sake. I didn't want to see any more than that. Even Miss Marple was a bit racy for me.
