Twitter tends to show it's worth when new programmes come on. I was having a look at the BBC's new joke "Sci-fi" effort programme "Outcasts" last week and reading through tweets at the same time - The term "Death by Twitter" came to mind as it was being slaughtered on there.

That one line and a couple of character names were all that resembled the old series. This piece of excrement was churned out from the American action hero film stereotype character generator, and some less-than-mediocre script writer who presumably thought Lethal Weapon 4 was the best movie ever, judging by the runny splot he produced

You mean it didn't feature the IBM punched-card reader which was often shown spitting out a couple of cards containing The Answer, inspired by Danno's sudden brainwave? It's a scandal. Any colo(u)r as long as it was blue. New employees were sprayed blue in week-one. Those were the days.

The term that was trending for Outcasts was "Crapplestar Galactica". It is/was a programme badly in need of a sense of humour.

So, by the sound of it the new Hawaii Five O was what a BMW "Mini" is to the real thing? Kind of sums up this century so far. Could have been worse, for unless it is still on the cards - that flagship remake might have been the one they cancelled the remake of Blake's 7 that Sky wanted to make.

Well, I might be tempted to give it a try, Sesley. If only for the handsome men in it.

There's this bloke who missed last ten minutes of Hawaii Five O. The next night he asked his mate what happened at the end. "Oh, there were all these blokes in a big canoe, paddling through the surf."
