Eat lemon curd Wash out jar Use jar again when you make your own lemon curd (recipe above - couldn't be easier) You'll never have to hunt for lemon curd in a Dutch supermarket again. And Sesley is right - it's delicious in a lemon meringue pie. Very rich though.

Meanwhile I'm here, on the NL/D border, in a caravan without a microwave, and gagging for lemon curd. Dutch supermarket to the rescue. Fecking Ace!

Yes, I quite understand. When you're gagging for lemon curd, any type will do. I vote we try to think of as many ways as we can of using lemon curd in recipes. Sesley has mentioned lemon meringue pies, I've mentioned butterfly cakes, you've mentioned pancakes (which sounds wonderful). Anyone else? I'm waiting for Trubbs to suggest using it in a trifle.

i love lemon curd partilculary as part of lemon meringue pie. I fancied a tart tain after Raymond Blanc made one on Saturday and so i made one and its lovely with that pouring yogut that you can get now. Funny how you see them making something on tv and you fancy it enough to want to make it. Sesley, both Mr. E. and I are in love with Raymond. What is it about the man? He makes it look so easy. And that accent. Lovely! The other Ray in my life had better watch out. I've warned him before that he's too slow on the uptake.

Raymond has gone down in Mr. E's estimation a little this evening because he did some kind of brawn type thing with aspic jelly, which left Mr. E. sweating a bit, as aspic is his bete noire.

It's just aspic jelly and mashed potato he's afraid of. Yes, kiwi fruit hate me too. I'm quite allergic to them. We must be related. I believe my gt.gt.gt.gt. grandmother came from the northern parts.

You know Essex is mostly crap, although we do tend to have more sun here than other places.

Tsk! . . . I'll get me pacamac. I'll be back in Blighty day after tomorrow, bearing several loaves of Landbrot, at least two crates of the finest German beer, a few dried sausages, some very mature Dutch cheese, and one or two interesting DVDs. Slot Yutani Oost signing out, for now.

Finally made Ev's recipe. Tastes excellent!
The only hitch was that it's ended up not quite thick enough, but it's still very usable. I'll know better next time. (They were remarkably big lemons, and probably had too much juice.)

Won a pub quiz today. It's frightening how seriously some people take these things.
The mystery prize was a bottle of wine for each team member. I don't drink wine. But it's not the winning – it's the playing.

Ah yes. I imagine the amount of lemon juice would matter. Glad you liked it though.

It's not even the right colour! Is this the right colour, Jean? It's the last of the curd I made to Ev's microwave recipe. Delicious to the end. Next time I'll double the quantity, but reduce the amount of juice and use slightly less sugar. ~ Ev: We need a clue for your Mystery Object.
