Just the one day?
Oh yes, I get it - thursday, vote and work. Thursday night. Drink. Friday morning. Carry on drinking. Friday afternoon. Run out of whisky, look for that 1/4 bottle of gin you remember from last Xmas - ah, yes. Neat. Bit rough, though. Wake up at 3.30 on Saturday morning, wondering who won.

Thanks, Trubble. Counting the votes once is bad enough, but I see the potential for this to go on for days, unless there is now some electronic device to help. We have proportional representation for the Scottish General Elections (albeit of a different kind). You still get the Constituency seats announced during the night, but it can take a while to count the list votes, especially in the wilds when they have to helicopter in the ballot boxes to civilisation. It wasn't until late the next afternoon that the glorious truth became known of Alex Salmond's First Ministership. By that time I'd been on the couch drinking whisky for 24 hours. Trubble may remember. She and CG kindly joined me in the (JSG was it?) chatroom to keep up with events. We're having anothr one soon. I must remember to take the next day off work. Oh I hope so much that the Scottish people don't revert to their usual brutish stupidity in the ballot box. Really torn about this one. If Labour win as expected, Milliband and his ideologues will use Scotland as a weapon to fight the Tories. Expect to see decisions made not to benefit Scots, but to benefit the Labour Party as a whole at the next UK election. But if the SNP win, we'll get more decisions made in the interests of keeping a childish Anglo-Scots rivalry going, leading to divisions and hatred (robbing the NHS to give the rich free precriptions for instance). Can we not get the option of voting for someone who'll put the good of the country and the people in front of their pathetic party politics?

Aye, those SNP bastards giving us free prescriptions and not reforming the health service the way the Tor/Dems are doing in England. Bastards.
Their cheap anti-anglo propaganda stunts leading to the lowest recorded crime rate in 30 years are to be scorned.
How dare that Mr Salmond be the only serious statesman among the party leaders?
I for one will be voting for a far shiter party. What a great choice I have!

I'm voting Plaid until further notice, and that's that. You know it makes sense.
