Seems like everybody's doing this postal voting thing these days.
Lazy gits. I like to walk down to the polling station, abuse the people outside who are representing BAD parties, make my cross on the paper, smell the ballot, fold it and put it in the box . . oh yes, I love all that.
Back in the day I used to love to go to the counts too - I'm not 'in' enough with any political party to get a ticket for that now. That was so exciting and charged and mental. I used to go to Meadowbank Stadium, a big sports stadium in Edinburgh (I lived there at the time) where all the votes for the city were counted.
There were fights, arrests, affairs, tears, anger, love . . . and the sound of the ballots being poured on to the table, the sound of the counters shuffling them.
Oh it was marvellous!

LOL, such a political anorak you are RG! ;D
As for the postal vote, I didn't have a 100% voting record before I switched, since I did switch, I've never missed out, so, it is good for us lazy folks.

Had I opted for a postal vote, I would at least know who is standing. As it is, I've no idea. I don't buy a local paper and only the Conservatives have bothered to put a leaflet through my door.
So I'll have to make up my mind in the polling booth instead of over a pizza watching a wildlife programme.

AH I would ban all you lazy folks from voting. At least the UKIP ones. (Yeah, I know that True Justice would demand the Death Penalty for UKIP voters, but it's only UKIP types that would demand it (and the other flavours of Tory, of course, such as Tory Classic, New Labour, "Lib" "Dem", and BNP).

(All green voters would be recycled into fertilizer to help the planet and stuff). AH

It's classic. It's pretty short so I'll type it out in full. Side 1
British National Party will take Britain out of Europe.
Because we'll stop immigration. Vote British National Party because we can make Britain better.
Side 2
Because Scotland is in our heart.
Fed up with useless politicians?
Kick them where it hurts - in the ballot box on 5th May. Just 1 vote in 15 elect your British National Party member of the Scottish Parliament.
Your British National Party vote really counts.
British National Party candidates pledge 10% of their MSP salaries to pay for good causes such as extra road grit in winter.
We speak for the Silent Majority (their caps, not mine) who know immigration is unfair on Scottish workers and taxpayers.
SNP want more - we'd shut the door! Your choice?
Floods of East Europeans can from 1st May come to Scotland sign on and each grab £250+ a week in benefits and housing. We say that local people should have the money and homes.
No more mosques! There are already more Muslims in Britain than Scottish people!
We'll stop the SNP and Labour wasting £millions on 'diversity', climate change, wind farms and asylum seekers. We'll spend the money on services for everyone in Scotland.
Persuasive, eh?

Amazingly, this looks like a foregone conclusion and it only remains to be seen how much the Nats win by. Labour's campaign has been utterly shocking, terrible, appalling etc etc. For instance, their leader Iain Gray (who he) was speaking about knife crime. The Labour policy is that everyone convicted of carrying a knife will be jailed. No exceptions, mandatory sentences. Except when they aren't. Except when Judges will be allowed to use their discretion. As was pointed out, if Annabel Goldie popped out into her garden to pick a cauliflower for her tea with a knife, she'd be jailed under Labour plans. FFS - this is exactly the flawed stance that Wullie Bain came up with back in 2009 and it's one that I ridiculed and attempted to expose as nonsense back then. The Nats haven't had to do anything to win. They've run this as some kind of Presidential campaign putting Fat Eck up as an X-Factor contestant against the invisible nobodies in the other parties. And the formidable Annabel Goldie of course ;D I swear to god if Labour got a good looking leader from somewhere, they'd sweep into power. Why can we not have a decent Scottish election campaign? I remember campaigns in the past where Labour walked it and the SNP seemed to deliberately lose it, now the boot seems to be on the other foot.

I've decided to vote "yes" to AV, largely because of the rubbish being spoken in the Harbour, which has helped me to clarify my thoughts.
I probably won't vote at all in the local elections. The Conservatives are complacent idiots, the LibDems conniving and manipulative and Labour almost non-existent. Anyway, I don't agree with party voting at this level.
But I shall wait until after the real election before voting in this poll - providing it doesn't self-destruct in the meantime.

But I shall wait until after the real election before voting in this poll... Me too. I know I am going to vote Green in the local elections, and nobody is complacent here, believe me. They have started to open the postal votes, and I could tell you things that would make your hair stand on end... But I just might change my mind about AV.

I've decided to vote "no". Whenever I vote I always look at the other parties and think "there's no way I'd vote for any of them", so what would be the point of having a second, third or forth choice? I don't favour any one of them above the other so I can't really put them in any order.

I'd be amazed if we had a Green candidate! We didn't even have one in the last geneeral election. This is true blue territory, and it is almost always a three party contest in my ward, with Labour polling mere token votes.
I still don't know who is standing, but must find out. If some brave soul decides to go it alone as an Independent they might get my support, but I'd want to ensure they weren't some single issue nutcase battling to secure more rights for woodlice or support for an airport on the common.
(For the record, I think woodlice are wonderful and we don't have a common)

Any site that gets infested by the English [sic] nationalist squad soon turns into a stream of worthless drivel. (Don't know what the Admiral's excuse is.) J'sT is much the same. I at least have the option of Plaid Cymru, and they shall indeed get the Yutani vote.
