Yup.
I saw it in the cinema and loved it at the time, very clever, but I don't think I've ever been moved to rewatch it. I'm not a Gwynnie fan so that doesn't help things.
Notes on a Scandal was a weird film, I thought. I enjoyed it but I think by the end of it I was in a 'well that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back' mood.
The leading ladies were superb though and deserved any award. Cate Blanchett is irksomely brilliant in every role. I was dubious of her playing Veronica Guerin and accents are always a risk but she was her usual excellent and perfect self.

She seems to be able to adopt any accent and she has a very interesting face as well. Beautiful too IMO. Judy Dench is superb.

Just looking through the outfits on the red carpet... Angelina and Winslet looking pretty elegant but no one has beaten Julia Roberts 2001 so far..

No prizes for guessing worst dressed again. I haven't seen her dress yet but I am putting all my money on Tilda.

There's a distinct lack of characters at the Oscars this year so far. I miss Mirren.

I can't beeeaaaar it. I want Sean Penn to win this Oscar so much that I am beginning to hate Rourke. Oo-er. When did Sean Penn suddenly become trendy then? Cos everyone seems to have taken the P out of him so far in his career. I take it the latest one is top form then n'est pas??

I think she borrowed his suit to wear to the Oscars one year.

It's the only nominated film I've seen so I'm not being too objective but I loved it and his acting was Brilliant. Sean Penn is not an object of derision, you must be mixing him up with someone else, Mickey Rourke maybe.

I always love the morning after Oscars Night. Waiting to hear the announcements on the News. This morning I was delighted. Sean Penn won, so obviously gays are still slightly fashionable, and Kate W. at last got her Oscar. Slumdog got quite a few and I guess I will have to go and see it, but I shall be wild if the acting is crap. I looked on www.oscars.com and thought that there were quite a few nice frocks. Tilda Swinton wasn't the worst dressed in my opinion, in fact I quite liked her skirt and blouse, and I loved Angelina Jolie's outfit. Very sophisticated. Mickey Rourke looked strange but the worst of the lot was Phillip Seymour Hoffman who wore a dress suit and a stupid hat. What a twit he looked.

Well, Danny Boyle is pretty well acclaimed at getting things done well with small budgets - and if there's anyone left at Channel Four Films (and I'm surprised there are after Ch4 gutted it a few years ago) they seem to know what they are doing. Perhaps this might mean they might be able to afford one or two more pictures for the Film 4 channel instead of endless Trainspotting and Withnail and I!

For Tilda, it was a beautiful outfit, for Tilda. On anyone else we might have queried it but compared to her previous form it was ok.. But I am still seeking a worst dressed woman.

I don't know if we have any red-haired people on this board, but it must be one of the hardest hair colours to find clothes to suit. I mean - that pink dress! It might have looked passable on a brunette like Catherine Zeta Jones, but it just looked awful on Tilda.
I think black would have been a good choice. Or possibly navy blue. She chose well with this year's outfit, which suited her very well.
I'm finding as my hair is going grey that some dark colours now don't suit me, but when I was young and brunette, I could wear almost any colour.

Sean Penn won, so obviously gays are still slightly fashionable, I jumped for joy. Really. Likewise when Milk won best screenplay and likewise when Danny won best director but not as high in the air as when Penn's name was called out. I am so thrilled about it. Obviously the controversy about gay marriage in California might well have guided the vote and the film couldn't have been more coincidentally timed. By accident. The arguments in 'Milk' against general gay rights are exactly the same ones being trotted out now re gay marriage. It makes the argument against appear ridiculous. But all that taken into account, Penn really was brilliant and clearly Oscar worthy so it was a most deserved accolade, at least as deserved as giving it to Rourke for still being alive or a best supporting Oscar to Ledger because he isn't, if not more so.

Greens are good with red and subtle rusty colours - One of my Girlfriends was a redhead (as was I when I was younger).
I go weak at the knees still whenever i see one. Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL! <swoon>
