The Bastard Motor Works (otherwise known as BMW) Have suggested that the British Government should take up what Germany has done and offer about £2000 for people to put towards a shiny new car. They say that it has helped lift car sales in the country. Odd really, cos on the same news pages there's also a report that Opel (the equivalent of Vauxhall in Germany) is about to go bust - and the Government there has suggested that it should - something to do with it being easier to get financial aid if it did. Being a non driver - and in the interests of saving British Industry, should the above scheme go ahead, I shall write to the Government and ask them for at least £400 so I can put it towards the cost of a new bicycle, because the car scheme discriminates against non drivers.

I think Vauxhall are in trouble. My car was ordered in Nov for delivery start Jan. That was put back to 12th Feb because of "parts issues". I'm still waiting and it's now March
