It's a very good point that Lord Levy makes. dost Tony hath the time and skills for this job or not or is he, as I suspect, too vain to turn down the nice title?
He can't play a major role in his religious stuff he's been prattling on about and doth these self publicising speaking tours and still giveth his all to the Middle East challenges. No one could.

When Major was seen over at Lord's Cricket Ground the day after the '97 election, he looked ten years younger. Blair still looks knackered.
I'm sure those on "either side of the fence" must have doubts about someone with such a self-proclaimed strength of belief mucking around in affairs that - let's face it - have religion (as well as territory) at the heart of the problem. I presume that he kept it all more to himself in the NornIreland thing. Apart from popping to church etc - he didn't talk about it before.
