Just "Adjust Contrast" on Photoshop's "Quick fix" - then "Adjust Lighting" to darken it a little bit. I'm no expert - My digital camera always opts for a lighter picture than the light actually shows it to be, you can buy filters to cut out glare etc, but even then it's knowing when to use them.

I don't have photoshop. Is it dear to buy?

I bought mine about 4 years ago when the "Elements" version came out - (Christmas pressie to myself) it's a cheaper version than the whole P'shop - at the time only about £40. The latest version is £20 more now (£54.98 on Amazon) - but plenty of second hand ones about - Although the software that came with your camera should be able to do the same thing. I'm sure someone has mentioned (Rob probably) Free software you can download too. I was playing about with an Aldi Photo download the other day - They've got a free editing software thing too - www.aldiphotos.co.uk/ You can upload photos to their site and buy prints from them - Special offer of first 20 free apparently. I like the idea of their calender making kit.

I am not good at editing photographs at all, I suppose it's just perservering and messing about with all the options until you get the result you want. Oh and making sure the original photo is saved so you can restart the edit when it goes horribly wrong

I think most of my "adjustments" happen by accident! Although I had a good result with a film photo where light had got into the camera and cast an orange glare across it - I scanned it to the 'pooter and ran it throught P'shop clicking on "Adjust levels" - and as if by magic - the orange glare was gone and there was a fairly clear photo of my Dad getting cross with his motorbike! First time I'd seen it in years - because the glare had covered everything. Better show it I suppose. He had just gone out and it started playing up (electrics I think) and came back - threw his helmet down and rained down curses on poor Gladys. So I thought "Perfect opportunity for a photo!" (but from a safe distance - hence the position taken. Coo, look at that - a picture that painted 45 words!
