Doubt it. If you enter Britain you will have to give over your details.

I sort of assumed that this was already happening when they scanned your passport and checked your tickets.
I sort of assumed information about trips made abroad from the UK were already recorded and the information kept somewhere so that it could be used as necessary for, say, to track criminals fleeing the country after their crime.

Doubt it. If you enter Britain you will have to give over your details. That would be a clever trick, even if it does include that (it isn't clear). They could try sending the fine to my address but Finland doesn't recognise extradition to the UK for such things

Good for keeping tabs on muzzers who go to "weddings" in Pakistan and do a lot of "charity work" in Afganistan.

He has a point Trubs. Keeping this information will be a useful tool in counter-terrorist intelligence undoubtedly.
There is the usual fine line between privacy and crime prevention on these matters.
I work on the basis that I don't really care if the Govt knows I've left the country or where I've gone or whatever. In fact, I quite like it, so that if something happens to me abroad my Govt know where I am. After all, after WW2 the restrictions on travelling abroad were FAR more onerous than they are now.

So, Trubbinator...do you agree or disagree that the main purpose/excuse/reason for this is muslamic terrorism?
or is it just the word "muzzer" that you object to?

We do try not to do the "M" word here.
Does this mean that travel agents are required to pass on your credit card details to the Government/passport control/customs/whoever wants it?
That doesn't sound too good - that sort of sharing.

most people use google for finding music, movies, porn etc...certain other sections of society who we don't call muzzers on this site tend to search for "bomb making recipes" and stuff.
If they want to snoop around my use of google that's fine. They won't find much of interest...unless they are deeply into Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Farscape and other quality Sci-Fi.

OK, so I'm trying to not get worked up about it and I see your points. If I go to Ireland from England and while there change my return flights, that change stays on their database for 10 years and will I be expected to carry on accounting for my change of flight every time I try to travel back and forth? How will they be using the information. This was all put in place last year - or earlier? The Irish have pledged to do the same as the British. There is method in it in that Ireland is being used as a stepping stone and hide out for some of these plotters and so it's right to step up the checks on that. I don't get why the details are so many and held for so long and in advance and couple it with the ID card and the strengthening of the powers of companies and government to cut off supplies, gain access to and monitor your internet use, and couple it with your genetic/biometric(?) details being required for ID cards and passports, and couple it with the sharing of information with not just other govt services but all of Europe... ...it will go to microchip implants with your credit rating and shoes size showing up on the scanner when you walk into the chip shop - ''annual ration of cod exceeded! Reject Reject!'' ''Drank more than 7 units this week, do not serve for 3 months!'' I know I am being mad a bit but...it's also logical.

Not all criminals are arrested/charged immediately, things can come to light several years after a crime. Also remember that several islamic terrorists in the UK were visiting terrorist training camps for several years before commiting their crimes.
