One of the big problems we've got in the UK is we have absolutely no idea who is here. We tightened up entry so we could count people in, but unless you count them out again, that's of limited use. So assuming the next Census is accurate, for the first time in our history we'll be able to accurately map immigration, emigration and population growth.
I'm not comfortable with the wealth of data being collected though. Especially credit card details. If this govt doesn't lose data through incompetence, it sells databases.

They're missing a trick here - what better way to create jobs? Than in the security sector! Just think of all those bods they'd need to sit in front of computers all day scanning what we're all googling for!
They could advertise the jobs as "Working for Britain - Keeping Us Safe" and get a fella with a plummy 1930's accent to chivvy everyone along to their nearest spy centre!

So there'll be a mental agility test too then!? Having to remember the 90 bits of info off by heart! and say them backwards too - sobriety test. Pity the Trainee Alzheimer cases!

For myself I don't see any problem.
a) I don't travel (get out) much.
b) Why do you worry if you have nothing to hide?

I don't care either. If it helped stop people taking their children abroad for "holidays" then marrying them off, I would welcome it. However I'm sure ways will be found for the dishonest to get round this.

A thought occurred; We haven't heard much about I.D cards lately? Yet the last thing I did hear indicated that behind the scenes all is carrying on as planned - and they will indeed be making an appearance in the not too distant future. Funny, considering how "open" Parliament is supposed to be that the progression of these things goes on remarkably quietly - and secretly.
