Remember when the BBC used to ban songs about sex? I wonder what they'd have made of Lilly Allen's new one just ten or fifteen years ago?
I see ARF's Amy gets a starring role in this vid!

Funnily enough I was listening to that song on my iPod the other day and thinking . . . wow, this is a bit frank.
(For those of you unfamiliar with the song and not bovvered enough to watch Pats' video link, basically it's a song about whether or not her guy is the right guy for her, because he's perfect every in every other way but a bit selfish in bed.)
I was surprised to learn it had been released as the next single.
Her Mother must be so proud . .

I remember when ' Je t'aime moi non plus' was banned by the BBC. Mr. E and I always think of it as 'our' song.

I like the song. I like her songs generally. Patrick, I think there's a radio edit. I don't know, find another by all means! It's was my second choice. With her actually in it rather than someone just playing the record. I thought the video rather odd too, considering the content of the song.

I don't want another version, like I said, I like it. I like the video too, touching on the servicing the man idea and on the little woman who's not supposed to enjoy sex anyway concept. It reminds me of Kirsty McColl's cowboy song - some boys with warm beds and cold, cold hearts can make you feel nothing at all. They'll never remember and they'll never mind if you're counting the cracks on the wall. They're quick and they're greedy, they never feel guilty, they don't know the meaning of hurt. Their boots just go back on the socks that had stayed on, the next time they see you they treat you like dirt....Here's a censored version of Lily's song anyway: I like the whole message and think it's brilliant to send it out to the young women out there. When I started off on my first sexual relationship I got loads of mixed messages from the rest of the world. Advice then was very much catered to technique and towards experienced women and men. Sometimes you need to know that there are just some relationships that are crap. The best book I ever read about sex was Cynthia Heimel's Sex Tips for Girls although it's kind of stuck in the 80s, I think she updated it. I gave it to my godchild when she turned the age of legal consent and she thanked me profusely. The best advice I ever gave someone, a young woman in her first sexual relationship, was get out, it's not you, it's him (the title of Lily's album is 'It's not me. It's you.'). The next best advice was to another young woman ''there's a gorgeous man out there, you don't know it yet, but he is just hoping and praying that you will break up with this shitty guy''. And luckily for us there was that man and he was thrilled she broke free and has since married her, so she thinks I am pretty cool. I think the radio-edit of Not Fair is not fair. It's just matter-of-fact lyrics. Unlike the 'my humps, my lovely lady humps' crap that my primary school nieces were all singing a couple of years ago. I'd much rather they sang this.

Good. I am glad you like intense ranting. because it just so happens that I have spent the morning trying to cut about 300 words down to about 12 without losing any meaning. I managed to get it down to about 20 and my computer decided to close and NO NO the final draft was not saved. Not even in my stupid thick head. NO it wasn't. I am not happy. Today. I. am. NOT. I am sweating and I might cry.
