No way were we keeping "Toots" and "Babe", which the previous owners had picked Hmmm, I can see what you mean! ;D

Just had something to eat ourselves and we're torn between moping about at home or going shopping to try and take our minds off. Because if they do find something cancer like, then chances are it would be better to just 'let her go' there and then. Having a kitty put down is no fun, I hope it doesn't come to that

Sadly it has. Mistral was put to sleep at about 3:30 this afternoon. Through the operation they discovered fairly extensive tumours in her intestines and a rupture between the large and the small bowel/intestine area. It was very unlikely that she could have recovered.
I may not be around for a while. I only knew her for the past eleven years - but Best Beloved had her from a kitten, 17 years ago. I'm glad we went to see her this morning.

Oh bloody Hell, Patrick, I'm so sorry. I've been there - several times, never gets any easier.
Big hugs.

Oh man. That's so sad Patrick. My cat was 17 when we lost her and so I know just how you and BB are feeling. You did the right thing though. It's a very hard decision but kindest for her, poor little dear. She was a lucky cat to have two people who loved her so much and she'd had a good life, but as Percyplum says, it never gets any easier.

Patrick, my thoughts are with you too. She had a good innings, didn't she? Not that that makes the loss any easier, but it may be some comfort.

Sorry to hear the news Patrick She had beautiful markings and looks a little bit like one of our cats. You definitely did the right thing; she had a long life but I guess that doesnt make it any easier for you right now.

Thank you kind folks, from meself and Best Beloved. Luckily (sort of) our vets has links with a local pet cemetery - So she'll be dealt with decently, and we'll have her ashes to do something or other with. It's a bit sentimental, but hey!

A small indulgence....... With apologies to those who think I'm getting a bit self important here (I know what you mean - Don'tcha just hate it when people post videos expecting everyone to go ahhhh!)
Something I made earlier.

I've never met a dog person with the same tenderness as a cat person, though they will go on about how much more responsive dogs are even for nothing. That is why I prefer cats. They have a mind of their own and elicit respect that dogs do not. As in 'Shogun', He will be reborn Samurai, to be a cat, I am sure is on the edge of being reborn human aristocrat or female, and to be a dog reborn human peasant or male.

I like cats as much as the next person, but I doubt if I'd feel the same if I were a bird.

Well, I'm pleased to say ours was well trained. Couldn't catch a bird if she tried! In fact - the only - Only time she ever managed it was when one landed three inches in front of her one day!
Shrews and voles though was a different matter entirely - and even then they were rarely fatalised.
