Train Derailed by Vandals!

S'alright - it was only a little one!


The driver of a miniature tourist train escaped injury when it was derailed by vandals near Walsingham.

At least they'll be back at school this week! Poor little train!

Can you imagine if people were hurt though? H&S would be on them like a ton of bricks asking for six foot spiked fencing along the whole track or something!

'Little one' or not, Patrick, it's VERY fortunate that no-one WAS hurt.

It's still got a boiler, contents of which are at high temperature AND pressure...

I've nearly been on that railway. (It was closed the day I called!)

Thankfully the slow speed gave the driver the chance to jump clear. It was a typical "Summer Holiday" story though, The "13 year old" will now either go on to greater things - or hopefully learn a lesson.

True, Patrick.

I still recall the driver of a RHDR locomotive being tragically killed after a stupid car driver ignored warning lights and drove into the path of said locomotive & its train. The subsequent collision caused the locomotive to derail & turn on its side. Its driver was crushed against the boiler backhead...

The car driver, IIRC, basically got a 'slap on the wrist'...
