Why are there so many bids that are exactly the same? Usually if someone bids to another's "Maximum Bid" it only appears once? I have my suspicions about this "Bidder 1" "Bidder 2" thing - What's to stop the Seller dialling up another account and upping the price of his item? The names of the "other" bidders don't get shown afterwards - only the winner.

I don't like the new system at all, it was generally ebay punters who spotted shill bidders and reported suspicious activities due to being able to see their name and feedback, this new system is begging to be abused. As for what is going on with bidder 4, it may be a glitch. AH

Changed to this afterwards: How were the times different if it was a glitch though. Very curious.

I must be a mad Conspiracy Theorist though - Bidder 4 only joined up "Today" and once or twice when this item has come up a "New" Bidder has frantically placed bids - you know how you once might have done when new to ebay - before realising that sitting tight and bidding at the end was the best thing to do! Hmmmmmmmm. The Great Piano Swindle!

Hmm, curiouser and curiouser. Gone are the days when you could "bid with confidence" Used to be a great place ebay, especially when you could see the I.D. of the people bidding against you! AH

Ebay is a pile of wank, especially for sellers. It is for that reason a rival was set up here. Have a gander : www.etsy.com/

I recall there were a few alternatives to ebay - but they must have fallen by the wayside over the years. We probably pick up the odd bit every six months or so. Lately I've been looking at Pashley bikes for instance. If you pick and choose and play it right it can work of course, but I know what you mean.

ScamBay have just hiked their fees up too - pity, as I've sold lots of bits 'n bobs that I didn't need over the years, but there it is. I'll have a shufti at that Etsy site though...
