Passengers sitting in a plane on the tarmac are surprised to see the
pilot walking to the plane led by a guide dog. His co-pilot seems to
be feeling his way with a white stick. They watch in stunned silence
as the pair, both wearing dark glasses, carefully make their way up
the aisle and into the cockpit. Surely it must be a joke? After a while
the engines start as usual and the plane begins its takeoff run. The
passengers begin to relax.
However, the aircraft seems to be accelerating closer and closer to
the airport boundary with no sign of takeoff. Passengers look at one
another in horrified silence. No-one wants to be the first to panic.
Finally, the end of the runway and the boundary fence hurtle into view
and everyone's reserve breaks - as one, they all scream and shout
in terror. Just at that point the plane leaves the ground and climbs steeply,
leaving an embarrassed group of passengers wishing they'd not made
fools of themselves.
Meanwhile, in the cockpit, the pilot pats his dog and says to the co-pilot,
"You know, one of these days they won't scream and then we'll be
completely stuffed".
