Absolutely Conkers!

The World Conker Championships has found a possibly unlikely sponsor - a health and safety organisation.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health is backing the event in a bid to lose its spoilsport image.

I last played Conkers with a friend at his work about five years ago - I'm useless at striking - though when I do - it's usually a good one. Friend managed to bruise his thumb bone on a swing back. It's all good stuff and memories of Primary School where the woodland playground was ripe ground for "ammunition".

Conkers in my school got a bit extreme...we went from soaking them in vinegar/oven treatment to wrapping them in a few layers of gaffer tape and then adding coins (under the tape) to the mix...you'd get more than a bruised thumb if you missed the target! ;D

They are lacking in them over here, because the climate is too cold for those trees. I think they might grow in the South of Finland, though

Wait a couple of decades, motorist, and you will be growing palm trees in Finland. Indeed, by the end of the century we will all be trying to cram onto Geenland.

C'mon Trubbs, you never experienced the joy striking somebody's conker and watching shatter like Alderan after being blasted by the Death Star? Savoured the look of pure pain and drunk in the agonised screams of your vict....oh wait, you are a woman, you probably do that all the time.

Conkers IS cool though...don't dis the game of champions!
