I wouldn't give a hoot if Strictly Come Dancing and the X Factor disappear forever. I can live without Bargain Hunt and even Countdown.
But I do wish Watercolour Challenge would return. I miss it!

Firefly - Killed by brainless TV execs after only 14 episodes, one of the most original, character driven sci-fi shows ever...a crime against humanity that it was axed. Summer Glau FTW!!! Space Above and Beyond - Another premature death, only one full season that ended on a cliff hanger, deserved at least one more season (and more Kristen Cloke). Crusade (Babylon-5 Spin-off series) Another one that was killed after only 14 episodes, what a focking disgrace! I want more Tracy Scoggins! Sapphire and Steel - A wondefully atmospheric and original show. This deserved more seasons, great stuff and it had a young sexy Joanna Lumely in it...what more could you ask? The Logan's Run & Planet of the Apes TV series also rocked in their own campy way! AH

Rrriot - no fiction? I can't remember who it was who said that when writing biographies he could make stuff up, but when he was writing fiction everything had to be true. It is a flip comment, but there is a lot of truth in it.
Oh, and Firefly - what a wonderful programme. Silence in space - who'd have thought?

Does anyone remember a test programme when BBC2 was just starting, about a French girl who lived at a petrol station somewhere very bleak and miles from anywhere? No words, as far as I remember, but not silent. It lasted about 20 minutes, and was B&W.

It is a flip comment, but there is a lot of truth in it. It's not so much biographies I read as histories, memoirs, and travel writing (as good travel writing includes history and memoirs.)

On X Factor . . . do you believe that that John & Edward apparently TOPPED the phone-in vote last week?
And Miss Frank went out! That can't be right, can it?

It's the Great British Sense of Humour but they should be careful - that's how the whole Jade offa Big Bruva started and look where that went.

I would have said I don't miss a thing because any time something is brought back or reshown it's always a disappointment -- things date terribly and TV always caters to the current trends and lesser technology makes things from the 70s look depressing etc... ...but Watercolour Challenge was quite good. Comforting. Yes, I wouldn't mind that coming back except I think they managed to paint everything already. They even came here to paint, that's how desperate it got.

Coach Trip. I'm sitting pining for the next series of Coach Trip. The Restaurant is returning soon, that any use to you? I hate to brag but The Apprentice (Irish Version) is currently on RTE on Monday nights so I've got my fix for now. What channel makes Coach Trip?

I was forced to watch X factor recently. It's a horrible show, innit. I mean, each to their own, I watch Strictly and I know no one else here likes it, we all have our flaws. Still, the X Factor is a particularly shocking fetish.

Why don't we get the Irish Apprentice here on one of the Freeview channels or something? It's not fair. You get the UK one. I'm angry now. Bloody minorities. They get everything.

There's nothing I like about it. I watch it on Saturdays and Sundays, and DV (is that the right verb?) it too in case I miss anything. But I do hate it.
