Now we hear: "Household energy bills could increase by as much as 40% this winter, the BBC has learned, as oil and wholesale gas prices hit record highs. " Well. I totted up our energy bills for the past two years not long back (Funny how you can "accidentally" keep them? Or is that just me?) Worked out at about £70 a month both Gas and Lecky. That's about a £20-25 a month increase on when we had a one bed flat then a two bed modern terrace a few years back. Now in a three bed semi with knackered double glazing and cold spots. Nevertheless this winter's bill was up £50 on last years and we thought it was warmer this year! We are toying with the idea of selling up and downsizing for a while until it all blows over. That's if we could shift it. Not that we are desperate. Just thinking sensibly. I think?

Food prices have gone crazy too. I'd like to watch Dispatches next week: Let's see if this works then (Link Fixed)I think my local Centra thought it was being clever when rice started to inflate in price and must have over-stocked because it's now selling rice at half price. I feel guilty buying it.

It's tonight is that! I'll be giving it a look too. I find it absolutely astounding (astounded I am!) that the price of bread is simply down to the Yanks (and our) love affair with "bio-fuels" Utter Utter madness - that it's more important to fill our bloody petrol tanks than it is to fill our children's tummies!
