No - sorry! A TWO WORD film, nothing to do with sport of any kind. As for Hamish and Dougal, someone told me that the classic ISIHAC opening "Ye'll have had your tea?" or "Ye'll not be wanting tea, then?" is a parody on Edinburgh people who (I am told) have a reputation among the Scots for being tight with their hospitality. Not "classic", essential. Is it Bring-Me-the-Drake of-Alfredo-Garcia?

Of course! Veer a drake - what's the matter with you all?
Riotgrrl, if you have never heard of the film, you must have gone through a lot of unecesssary brain-racking for which I apologise!

My problem is that I've not really heard of very many films. I'm not a film buff. However, my asset is unshakeable enthusiasm. And being good with Google. I actually did come across a film called Vera Drake while googling, but i couldn't see how it fitted. D'oh.

But I think it will be too easy. And I don't know any of the Hamish and Dougal rules. Dad used to mark all our heights with pencil on the wallpaper in the back kitchen every New Year. He kept up the tradition for over 40 years before he died, even though the marks didn't change very much for the last 30 years or so. Dad was always the tallest of course, then Jim, who was a strapping six footer. Daniel came next, then Mum and the two girls. Abby never really grew more after she was 12, and even today is only just over five feet. That's too easy, innit?

Patrick mentioned Mike Leigh earlier - it was one of his films. It is one of the few films I've seen at the pictures - it might be up your street, Riot, though it is quite depressing.

Abortionist Vera Drake finds her beliefs and practices clash with the mores of 1950s Britain--a conflict that leads to tragedy for her family. That should cheer me up. I'm actually half-way through watching a German film called 'Import/Export' that I recorded. It's very depressing, all about a nurse in the Ukraine who has tried to earn money in the internet sex trade, but has now gone to Vienna to be a cleaner. And there's a parallel plot about a vaguely Nazi-ish Austrian boy who apparently goes to the Ukraine. Laugh a minute that one is . . .

Is it a book, film or what RG? How many words? It's far too obvious for clues!!!!!! Book, probably a film too, two words.

You're in the vicinity. Still a couple of blocks to walk, but definitely in the vicinity.

Riot, "Vera Drake" is an excellent film! Imelda Staunton is absolutely wonderful in it. I've seen it a couple of times and, for me, it's one of those films that you can watch again and again.
