"Lazy lump Kevin Pyle has a very novel way of avoiding any exercise when walking his dog. He gets his son to slowly drive him round the block while he, with his arm stretched out of the window, holds a lead attached to his bull mastiff, Bruce, who walks alongside. Bruce covers around four miles a week, without his owner ever putting a foot on the pavement. Kevin, from Silver Lonnen, Fenham, Newcastle, says: "It sounds terrible that I take Bruce for a walk like that, but it saves me from getting wet when it's raining. He really enjoys it and it saves my legs." Now Kevin, a wagon driver, has won the title of Great North Bum - and he's proud of it. He was nominated by his 18-year-old son Karl, who said: "My dad is the laziest person I know. When he gets in from work he has a bath and goes straight to bed. He just lies there and watches the TV. He even shouts down the stairs for us to go up and turn the channel over for him."

"Now Kevin, a wagon driver.... "
Surely we don't have any of those in Britain?
