We played the same game when I was bought my first Stereo Radio Cassette! A JVC RC770LB if I remember correctly! I know this - 'cos somewhere I still have the instruction manual. The item in question was nicked several years ago though.

I just tried that with my headphones! The bit at the very end where he whispers in your ear? Brrrr!!!!!!! Also the bit where the bag goes over your head. It made me shiver.

Yes everso! Exactly!! I screamed at the bag bit. Isn't it amazing that our brains were so easily tricked and isn't it amazing what our ears do!!?

He had a massive sitting room by any standards and he had a speaker at each end so you felt like you were right inside the cartoon with Mowgli one side of you and Kaa the other.

Ditto with a recording of Alice in Wonderland that we had on reel to reel - Dad's big speakers were home made (as was the recorder) and were about 2.5' high by 18" wide - they could pack a punch soundwise - nothing I've heard since has come close.
