Any fans of the John Carpenter/Kurt Russel classic "The Thing" should be aware that Ronald D Moore (The Man who gave us the awesome nBSG) is going to film the prequel to this cult classic movie. www.empireonline.com/news/feed.asp?NID=24088Not sure if this is good or bad, RDM is a great talent IMO, and I'd like to see the Norge station getting ravaged by the DNA stealing alien...but they have cast a woman in it...The Thing was a bloke movie, and that is part of why it worked so well (I watched it last night, just to remind myself of how great it is). AH Has to be good news, Alph. Thanks for the information. The opening sequence to The Thing is a thing of wonder. I have it on VHS, but I think I'm going to have to get the DVD.

It is an awesome film indeed, Weyland, it also came out the same year as that touchy-feely ET crap and redressed the balance...we know that aliens are all bad 'uns. Be warned though, the DVD is non-anomorphic, even on my 42" 16:9 widescreen, 50% of the screen was taken up with black bars until I hit the zoom button. I'm gonna pick up the Blu Ray version which has fixed this issue and has a stunning transfer by all accounts. AH
