So, it seems that the 'winner's song' for this year's X Factor (and the Christmas Number One Contenda!) is to be 'Hallelujah'.
This has caused outcry, as Dianne has already sung the song on the show and, according to Louis Walsh, 'made it her own'.
Certainly hard to imagine the boy band doing it, or even that wee Irish guy. Ruth the Spaniard? Nope, can't see it. Alexandra - not really her style.
So the selected song perfecty suits one of the contestants but not the others.
Fix?
More importantly, am I the only one who despairs that 'Hallelujah' has become such a popular song that it is considered suitable for X Factor Karaoke Queens??? Leonard Cohen must reclaim this song fully. Jeff Buckley just about got away with it, but the Government should legislate immediately that there must be NO FURTHER COVER VERSIONS OF HALLELUJAH RECORDED.
I will hate it if that song becomes such a 'standard' that it loses all meaning and nuance.
I am not happy.

Even more reason to seek out "Big Fish Little Fish" from Bob the Builder to make it the only number one winner this Christmas! I believe it's available for download from today!
