Happy birthday to my darling Trubs.
I know it's tough when you're in your late twenties like what we are, and middle age beckons, but, as you know, I'm a few weeks older than Trubs, so I hope to lead her into this exciting new phase of her life.
Did you get nice presents Trub??

If there were any celebrations/cake/fun we'd like to have pictures - really we would, and we all promise not to laugh! Honest! Talking of ages though and successful lives - through the power of Genes Reuntied (as I like to call it) I had a message from a cousin just twice removed this evening. She allowed me a look at her family tree - and this Granddaughter of my Father's Mother's Sister is 36, and the "Principal" at a language school in Kuwait! with an MA from Oxford and slightly more down at heeledly a BA from the University of Central Lancashire (aka Preston Poly). I mentioned this to my brother - who kindly pointed out how bright and intelligent we both are and wondering where it all went wrong! - I pinpointed our parents divorce - and that seems to have knocked the nail on the head! It's hell being grown up innit!

When I am grown up I will let you know, Patrick, (and I have ma doubts about you too ) but as a naive young thing just entering my twenties, as Riot so rightly points out, I still have so much to learn. Pictures? Cakes? What birthday? What evidence do you have? There was no birthday here. (You really don't get how this womanly age stuff works do ya? Never leave evidence) ;D

I hope mini-Trubs treated you well today She did. She wrote a card and she restrained herself from telling me how stupid I was. I note with some sadness this morning that all is back to normal. It was probably a very stressful day for her yesterday.

Did you get nice presents Trub?? Thank you for your support. ;D Wait till I tell you! I got pasta cooking pots which was a bit middle agey, and jewellry (not of heirloom quality), and theatre tickets (that's a bit OAPish isn't it) and prize bonds so maybe I will be rich one day but Mini-Trub is buying her present to me on Saturday*. It's a nodding Obama doll and when he nods he says 'Yes. We. CAN!' It's my favourite present. *she has to wait until then because that's when I next line her pocket.

I mentioned this to my brother - who kindly pointed out how bright and intelligent we both are and wondering where it all went wrong! - I pinpointed our parents divorce - and that seems to have knocked the nail on the head! Kurt Cobain also blamed his parents' divorce for much of his angst. I'll say to you what I would have said to him if he'd only asked . .. get over it. It's your life. You're the boss of you. You make your own choices. Don't blame others for your unhappiness. It lies in you. Oh yes, and could someone ask Mini-Trub to get me an Obama doll too? Trubs, have you downloaded 'Obama' . . there are at least 7 different songs available on Limewire praising your man, from the flirty 'I got a Crush on Obama', to the inspiring (WillIam of Black Eyed Peas 'Yes We Can') to shouty rap singers going on about how he's the first black President and we ain't taking no more of whitey's shit (I paraprase.) I recommend.

Sound advice indeed! but it does smack a little of the Doctor telling the manic depressive to just "Pull Yourself Together!" The Psyche of the mind does a lot of strange things, and it reacts in ways that may not even be known to it's owner! Neither my brother or I had any idea that this was the case. When one looks back though, everything stems from there. An inability to "finish" things.

When one looks back though, everything stems from there. An inability to "finish" things. I'm firm but fair. My heart is kind, but it's also strong! I'm anti-people moaning, and pro-people doing someting about their lives. We all hold our own power to control ourselves. We should not define ourselves by our past tragedies, but by our future destinies. We can change ourselves. Yes we can. And it's change we can believe in.

Kurt Cobain without anger/angst/issues would be like me without my sci-fi obsessions...he wouldn't have been the same bloke..."Negative Creep" would never have been written...could you really live with yourself if you'd been responsible for that? This is the sort of music that leaves one slumped in the corner with cracked ribs and a nasty head wound - Focking legendary! AH
