One step nearer to 40! I expect you've been out and about and enjoying yourself today. Apologies for the lack of resounding cheers - everyone else must be obviously out and about and enjoying themselves, though I have my suspicions! Never mind - got you an recyclable upgrade! Hope it was a good one Rob!

Many thanks Patrick . I have spent today trying to set up a new sound system which is far more comlicated than it sounds. It was my first day back at work too after my holidays so things are back to normal for me .

I can't do magic eye thingies either. They hurt my pathetic eyes.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROB. Sorry I missed it; everyone is on a Stub pack holiday or something at the moment I fear.
How old were you?

I can't do magic eye thingies either. They hurt my pathetic eyes. I used to be able to, but the eyesight in my left eye, which has an implanted lens, is no longer good enough. (Thought it was macular degeneration, but the opthalmologist says not.) In fact I used to make a hobby of stereo-photography, with two Zenit SLRs mounted on a home-made rig. Happy days. Now I can't resolve a stereo-pair. [Contributions to Welfare Fund, Weyland-Yutani Corporation, Cherie House, Cayman Islands.]

All the best Rob - Hope you have a cracking day and a great year to follow. Edit: I think Trubb is taking the piss...post a pic of some visual noise and sit back laughing at the thought of everybody squinting at the screen for hours...she's a very bad person. AH

HA! I just looked at the magic eye thing again. Clever Trubbs.
It says

You have to stare at a point beyond what your eyes want to focus on. This one was a bit trickier than most.

Now that I know what it is, I can almost make it happen. But the old left eye just can't quite resolve it clearly enough to make it merge. Very frustrating. I can remember the first time I realised I could read, and the first time I resolved a stereo-pair. Very similar feeling. Magical.

You have to stare at a point beyond what your eyes want to focus on. Good description. See this on PhotoFit.
