you forgot to mention the deft treatment of the doggy position Give me a chance. I'm only on Chapter 3! But now that Everso's literary pedigree has been discovered, perhaps I should return to WoW. Which are we chooising then? Hm? I am reading both.

Oh I liked the Mayor of Casterbridge - however, I've only "read" Thomas Hardy by listening to unabridged tapes. It's the best way frankly, and it makes the ironing go by in a flash.
"The Return of the Native" was read by Alan Rickman, which had me weak at the knees.

I'm sure everyone will enjoy Three Men in a Boat. In fact anybody that says they don't should be flung out of Stub Crouch with no reference.

I was just watching a programme on the t.v. and they happened to mention the book "Billy Liar" by Keith Waterhouse. Now THERE's a good book. Makes me laugh every time.

There was a girl who worked with me whose mother had hanged herself. She was a bit fragile as well. Anyway, I thought that Billy Liar would be a good thing to listen to; and it was, until it got to the bit where Billy gets caught out in a lie about somebody's mother hanging herself.
3 Men in a boat would be great, though I've read it more times than I can count.
Billy Lair on the Moon is good, as well. What happens to him for being a dick and not running away with Julie Christie.

We're doing Three Men in a Boat. That's decided by a majority vote. Plus I am on Chapter 3 already. Plus it's perfect summer reading, as Ev says. Plus those of us who have read it already can cheat. Plus it's quite short. Other and any forthcoming nominations will be carried forward to next month's Book Club. Here it is broken up into a chapter per page: www.online-literature.com/jerome/three-men-in-a-boat/1/Here it is with the chapters broken up into short groups of paragraphs: www.literaturepage.com/read/threemeninaboat.html

We're doing Three Men in a Boat. I like the book, but what exactly is it that "we're doing" with it? It's a mystery to me, and it's not as if I haven't RTFB. Talking of Mystery . . . . .

I'll do my bestest to get hold of a copy. Perhaps the library has one in its archives.

I make a conscious effort sometimes to turn off my laptop and read a book or actually watch TV (as opposed to it just being on in the background.) I find that i can easily waste a whole 3 or 4 hours of an evening online . . first I check Facebook, then my message boards (here, bitbot, back on the Harbour now), then maybe a game of solitaire, then just one more check on the MBs before I put it off . . and oh look, I want to post just one more thing . . etc. etc. Of course, if I'm at work (QUICK SOMEONE CALL ERIC AND BODGETT, THE INTERNET POLICE AND TELL THEM TO THREATEN TO CALL MY EMPLOYERS AGAIN) I can't read books or watch TV, so I don't have those distractions! Lol.

Riot, it's best read in a sunny garden with a gin and tonic in your right hand (or your left hand if you're left-handed).

Pimms only has fruit floating in it if you cut up the fruit and put it in it.
I've been drinking Pimms recently (just finished the bottle last night as it happens) with all kinds of ice, berries, cranberry juice, lemonade type variations. I even made one with a bit of ice cream in it.
I'm still not sure what Pimms is, but it's versatile.

from wikipedia:
'Products Some less frequently seen Pimm's bottles. There are six Pimm's products, all of which are Fruit cups, only Cups #1,#3 and #6 are still available at present. The essential difference among them is the base alcohol used to produce them:[1]
Pimm's No. 1 Cup is based on gin and can be served both on ice or in cocktails. It has a dark tea colour with a reddish tint, and tastes subtly of spice and citrus fruit. It is often taken with "English-style" (clear and carbonated) lemonade, as well as various chopped fresh ingredients, particularly apples, oranges, lemons, strawberry, and mint. Pimm's is also mixed with champagne (or a sparkling white wine), called a "Pimm's Royal Cup". It is 25% alcohol by volume. can also be purchased as a pre-mixed fortified lemonade (Pimm's & Lemonade) in 250 ml cans or 1-litre bottles, at 5.4%. Pimm's No. 2 Cup was based on Scotch whisky. Currently phased out. Pimm's No. 3 Cup is based on brandy. Phased out, but a version infused with spices and orange peel marketed as Pimm's Winter Cup is now seasonally available. Pimm's No. 4 Cup was based on rum. Currently phased out. Pimm's No. 5 Cup was based on rye whiskey. Currently phased out. Pimm's No. 6 Cup is based on vodka. It is still produced, but in small quantities. '
apparantly Pimms is liqwuers.. i think Pimms number 1 is the one most people think of when Pimms is mentioned.
