If you'd browsed around the U.S Amazon pages you'd have seen that they sell Groceries. Now they're "Beta" testing the service over here. They seem to be going for the far flung extremes of niche market groceries here - look up chocolate and you'll see makes of Cadbury chocolate never seen before in the UK (I suspect they might have "Empire Made" on the reverse!) An intriguing range of tea bags too including the Godawful US standby "Liptons" which give a very bad name to the original company. Take a look. Some of the prices are astonishing. It does seem as though they haven't even bothered to establish a "British Products" set of web pages and have merely re-priced what's available from the U.S pages. So you've got a curiously named breakfast cereal for £6.60 - about £4 over the top - and 6 bottles of San Pellegrino water at £6.60 which is over a pound more than the supermarkets here. If it's just a test page - they could stock it with stuff folk would want - otherwise no one is going to test it for them! Here's the BBC's analysis from last week

online grocery shopping is best avoided in my experience.. althou i did once get a free jar of marmite the size of a human head and a box of 6 melted strawberry cornettos thrown in with my order all free of charge. Also i think i am black listed from ASDA online shopping as i once made a shopping order with them online for about 60 or 70 qwuid ( booze n fags, mostly, n'est pas..) and they delivered it and then the nerxt day someone from ASDA left a message on my answerphone saying my card had not been processed in the order and they needed to re-take my card details to complete the payment. i never called them back....

I get my groceries from Asda online usually (although every few weeks I do prefer a wander round the store to get inspiration for new meals . . too easy to end up just eating the same things over and over again. And, also, i usually buy a couple of tops for work from George at Asda whose stuff is good value for money and usually the appropriate mix of fashionable and bland as to be suitable for work.)
I don't really have a point here. Just making conversation.

LOL @ RG. ;D The good thing about Amazon food shop thing is that you could bung a few tubes of pringles onto your latest book/Blu-Ray oreder so you are guaranteed to have something to snack on when enjoying your new media. AH

I've just ordered a box containing 48x packets of "Bacon Frazzles" for under £8 from Amazon - Snackapocalypse!!! ;D Almost went for a box of 48x "Worcester Sauce French Fries" as well, but riened myself in...maybe next month. AH
