The reality is not good Housey. A look at Google Street View reveals not a pretty sight these days, and I've seen some of the changes myself. The beautiful reddish pink Kentish tiles have been replaced with some hideous brown mismatch, and the man who lives there is supposed to be an architect! Yet he has no idea of history or tradition!! On top of that the GSV picture reveals that this beautiful border of hedge and trees - seen from this picture taken across the garden in about 1985/6 Has been torn out............ Just goes to show how long the house has been up for sale then - because the estate agent picture shows the house with the hedge still there - albeit in shortened form... ......and I first spotted that online advert in June 2008 - so it's been on the market for two years!!!! I'm hoping sometime to get the family album from my brother and the last estate agent pics. Much tidier. The whole place is completely over grown and scruffy now - and we were never the tidiest of householders!

I rather like a place as nature intends it to be. But that is probably because it is what my garden is like!
As I mentioned earlier, I returned to my birthplace on the Pilgrims' Way last year, and found it changed; but the hornbeam hedge I remember from my childhood is still there!
