Today!!!
I remember lying on a bench with one arm outstretched (like a poet dying of consumption) while a surgeon and his pupil pulled and cut at various veins and arterties. It took over an hour and it was really boring; but very quickly I had the characteristic buzz in my forearm which shows that it is working.
It is a good fistula - its rate was measured last week. And now it is making pork scratchings to go with a celebratory drink (IE - it has an unexplained scab on it).

Happy 2nd Birthday Fistula! You know it's Stub Crouch when a sentence like that appears.

(Don't know what a fistula is. Am too scared to google.) So am I, but I think it's a sort of unhealed wound. Sound familiar?

I did a kind of A-Z search and got as far as "Anal fistula surgery" before deciding enough was enough. But the index did mention fistula for dialysis so I'm guessing it had something to do with that.
Roll on the new kiddley

In this sense, a fistula is just the joining of a vein to an artery to make it big enough for dialysis. Very benign.
A lot of the scab came off in the night (I seem to remember some scratching, heh heh), and it is dry underneath; so I'll have to hope that it doesn't come back.

I looked up your fistula this morning Aubrey. I did not know it could be deliberately created in surgery. I am sure that every member joins me in wishing you a full recovery. Keep posting so we know you are OK.

She said it was vair vair painful, and was a stark warning to avoid constipation.

Update:]/b]
If anyone's interested, I've been putting steroid cream on it since Monday, and the scab has all gone now. One more application, I think... (you have to be careful with steroid cream).

Not exciting at all but one more wonder of the internet. I had no idea what a fistula was and would not have dared ask. Now I know and can begin to understand Aubrey's situation.
