Chris, I was 60 in March. 60 is the new black. Actually, we teenagers of the sixties have always had it just right. Every decade we've reached has been the new something. We Kinks fans just refuse to grow up (ask Weyland You look fantastic for 60 Everso. If you weren't happily married I'd be down there like a shot. I mean down where you live. Unless of course you are prepared to have an affair? Good god! Don't I have enough to be getting on with, with Mr. E.?

Costal, I got a new handbag (Mischa Barton apparently - who knew she made handbags now?) which is not dissimiliar to my last handbag from Gothboy. And my Mum and Dad sent me a top that I don't really like and a tacky photoframe that I probably won't use. That's it so far. I'm not big on birthdays, I tell ya. This is my new handbag. It's a good size - you could get a small child in it. Big? I can't even see it - must need new glasses. Perhaps this will be more your thing:

We Kinks fans just refuse to grow up (ask Weyland You know what, Ev? That is so, so right, and makes me so, so happy. You put it exactly right. And the icing on the cake is that you are a part of my life. No innuendo here, dear lady. No jokes. No pretence. No smoke and mirrors. In the words of William Butler Yeats, the poet from my ancestral Sligo home, I mean it from the deep heart's core. I will arise and go now, for always night and day I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore; While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, I hear it in the deep heart's core.I am part Irish, and mostly Geordie. I have been to the Lake Isle of Innisfree, and I have met Everso. In short, I am a very lucky man.

Talking of being part of someone's life, isn't it funny that a few short years ago I didn't even know message boards existed. Today, though, this board, and all you lovely people, have become part of my life and I'd miss it all very much if anything happened to it.

Bloody hell, Weyland. We'd better get a grip. They'll be accusing us of being maudlin old codgers if we're not careful.

Bloody hell, Weyland. We'd better get a grip. They'll be accusing us of being maudlin old codgers if we're not careful. Your words were to blame. I'm proud to be a maudlin old codger, especially when I still feel the same inside as the day I got my first motorbike. I've discussed messageboards, and particularly the old Today board, this one, and PhotoFit, with people who discount all boarders as sad people posing as what they're not. Naturally they've never been on a board. Mrs YI was one such, until the day she met Trubs. The scales fell from her eyes that afternoon. (It was also the first time she'd been to Ireland. It doesn't get much better than that.)

Mind you, Ray's looking his age now. Aren't we all. Except you, that is. We all know you were in the Smokey Mountains for the old Moonshine and Rattlesnake Therapy.

Mind you, there are those that would say I ne pricam engleski either. Don't worry, pet -- the same cloth-eared soft southern sissies* would say the same about me. I can ask for cigarettes, matches, beer, and directions to the gents in Serbo-Croat. That's it. We expect you to log in while you're there and keep us informed. And PhotoFit badly needs your photos. ___________ * Not Ev or Sparra, mind. They're not cloth-eared.
