Should they be pulled at Christmas Lunch or Christmas Tea, or is any time on Christmas Day acceptable?
Also, cheap or expensive? And hands up who actually wears one of those paper hats? I refuse to because it flattens my hair.

Main Christmas dinner. It's what Jesus would want. I've just given you your 100th as well. AH

Main meal. Lunch in my case.
And yes I do wear the hats! Often at a jaunty angle. I find them hard to keep on because of my beautiful glossy shiny healthy looking hair but I struggle nonetheless because I am worth it.
All crackers are a waste of money except for the bangs. Go very cheap and you might not even get the bang. Go very expensive and you've wasted your money but you won't notice for a week or so. I never want to win another lipstick holder - who uses them?
The best crackers have chocolates or tree decorations.

Did anyone else used to get whimsy animals? Wade's Whimsies? I found some recently that had been tucked away somewhere, and put them on the shelf in our back bedroom. They were my daughter's when she was little.

Even Aldi Crackers (I noticed) now have useful things - Nail scissors, tape measures, small incendiary devices* in these days. - As for hats - I have never found crackers with hats that fit me! I'm in the 'extra large' hat sized category. In fact just yesterday I came across a rather fetching trilby and we were trying to work out if it was maroon or oxblood, it had a very hard headband though and even the extra large size felt a tad uncomfortable. Still, what can you expect for a tenner. I'm sure it would have 'worn in' but I'll think about it.
-*Might have 'made up' one of those

My Life Coach, Slobodan, sold me a lovely iPhone-sized swatch so that I would nevermore need to face the stress induced by that dreadful conundrum, and once again I can scan the Sunday supps without angst.

Oh, those hats are trashy and common, I always don one. AH Definitely. Always. It just so happens that I found one such in the mail this very morning, from that nice Mr Branson. A free gift while I'm thinking about going over to Virgin phone service as well as his "broad"band, which I already suffer. Apparently "up to 8 mbs" is what I have. I never get better than 160 kbs, and usually nearer 60k. Sometimes 16k. I won't be using Virgin for the phone. Back to the hat. It's a flat-pack DIY affair, quite beyond me. I might call IKEA for help. I know from experience that calling Virgin would only make me even more bad-tempered.

Yes, wade's whimsies, that's it! I knew I wasn't imagining it. We had them in christmas crackers a couple of times. I used to keep mine on my Beatrix Potter bookshelf.

Those are shameful speeds, Weyland, I would not be happy with that at all. BT claims "up to 8MB", and to be fair, it averages anywhere in between 4MB - 7MB (depending on time of day) but what you are getting from Virgin is pretty scandalous. As for your hat...very Christmas-y indeed (if you can assemble it this side of 2010). ;D AH
