You can't be black unless you are black. I tend to be black on a Friday night. My bottom is mostly black on Fridays. My penis changing length and shade accordingly. Reminds me of the old South African army. White officers with black privates. "Exotic", as the Duchess was heard to remark.

I did declare myself mixed race last time around but I am sure the question has changed this time because it is pretty difficult to do so again without obviously lying. I just found out karen put herself down as a Christian even though she blatently isnt because "she has been baptised so thought that was the correct one to tick" [/color] Rob, I know what she means though. I'm not religious, but I will put myself down as Christian. I suppose it doesn't make sense really, but it's the baptism thing. In any case, if we don't put ourselves down as Christians then the whole census will be out of kilter regarding religion and the Daily Mail will insist that the Muslims are taking over the country. ;D

Yesterday, I had a man from the Irish & Proud campaign urging me to put myself down as Irish even though I told him I wasn't, really.
(Have I done my favourite Defoe quote on this board yet?
...in short, tho' I was a Whore, yet I was a Protestant Whore, and could not act as if I was Popish, upon any Account whatsoever. )

Worried of Chelmsford

Nooo! It is far more of a problem arguing with people who use the census results to show how much of a Christian country we still are. Well yeah when most of the population fill in themselves as Christians even though that arent because their parents decided to get them baptised . I have been baptised but I still have no religion! The race thing is a pain. You have to classify yourself as non-white to be mixed and even then its difficult to convey properly what you are. I contemplated ticking "White other" and then filling in "MIXED" in the box but then I realised I would be categorised as something which was irrelevant then, so thought about ticking the "Mixed other" and filling in "MIXED" but that has the same issue. So I ended up White British or whatever it says in the end much to my shame .

And to cap it all, I was over my auntie's today and my uncle has asked me to fill in HIS census return because he finds it hard to write nowadays, and my aunt, being blind, can't write either. I'm assuming I can do this, btw.
And what happens if someone is out in their car on the night of the census and it breaks down and he has to sleep in his car? Is he then not counted on the census? I vote we all go out in our cars and sleep overnight in a lay-by.

Is that situation not already covered in the census? Are you not supposed to also fill it out for anyone who normally lives in the house but is temporarily sleeping outside in a car indulging in some kind of dogging to-do-ness?
I haven't received mine yet.
QOTT, however (who now resides elsewhere if you've not been keeping up with the ongoing saga of my daughters and me) has had hers and has completed it. She gave it to me to post, and I'm SO tempted to open it to see what kind of rubbish she's written on it.
Whatever.
Everso & Aubrey, have fun in the layby.
ACTUALLY, when I think about it . . when IS census night? Should I not have received my form by now???

They're nothing but a bunch of divisive terrorists. According to their definitions I have somehow managed to give birth to two Irish daughters without myself being remotely Irish beyond a weekend in Dublin and a day trip to Ballycastle (oh yeah, and a work overnight in Belfast.) Jean, better a Protestant whore than a Catholic saint, that's what I always say.

Actually it's me who's talking. Oh well: (Where else could we go from the census to Nunsploitation in so short a time?)

ACTUALLY, when I think about it . . when IS census night? Should I not have received my form by now??? Riot, you're meant to fill in the form on the night of the census or shortly afterwards. It's the people who are in the house on the night of the census that have to be listed - if you fill in it beforehand how will you know who will be there that night? For instance, if your daughter decided to pay you a visit and stay the night in your house, then she would have to be listed on your census form, even though she doesn't normally reside at your house.
This is why I think the best thing is to drive out, park my car in a lay-by and sleep there for the night. Then I won't be listed. However, my descendents, should they wish in a hundred years time to look me up on the 2011 census, will be bitterly disappointed at not finding me.
Actually, come to think of it, I have had great trouble finding any of Mr. E's lot on most of the census of the 19th century. They most probably took their horse and cart out for the evening and parked it in a lay-by...We received our census form about a week ago. Having written all this, I just checked here: help.census.gov.uk/england/help/help-and-information/Gettingstarted/Goingawayormoving/Topics/Peoplegoingonholiday_W0072A.htmland, bugger me, I'm completely wrong. Seems you CAN fill in it beforehand and driving out in my car etc. etc. won't get me out of being included. Damn. I really don't like the feel of this census. Some people have said "well, they can get information about people easily enough elsewhere". Yes, maybe, but isn't it so much easier for them if it's all down on one form? I feel that the whole thing is far too intrusive. I've no objection to having a census taken, but I don't see why they need to know so much.

Everso, it's THE CENSUS. It's like the gold standard of historical research.
People who don't complete the census should be shot on the spot.
Think of the tradition here .. . the first census in England was the frigging Domesday book ffs. This is no time for political correctness.
It's time to fill in the census fully, for the hundreds of our descendants (ents? ) to come in the centuries ahead.
This is our chance to mark our thumbprint on history.
I take it very seriously.

Well, I suppose you're right. In the past, I've relied on all the 19th century and the two 20th century census returns for my family history research and have cursed Mr. E's ancestors to hell and back for obviously not complying. They were obviously an awkward lot anyway. Yes, I shall fill the form in and go along with it, but I shall be the first one to say "told you so" if the government starts a room tax once they know how many rooms we have in our houses.

Although one of the people commenting at the end said:
I am working for the census this year. I wish I had know about this guy or I wouldn’t be. I took the job because I didn’t see the harm in it and I am totally broke, I have no other job. I just wanted to say that census workers earn a flat rate no matter how much work we have to do. So all that extra processing work? It doesn’t cost the arms manufacturer guy a penny while I have a shitload more work to do for nothing. I feel really depressed now that I know about the situation and having a load of extra work dumped on me probably won’t help. I can say for almost certain that it’s not going to cause the bad guy any pain. I wish you’d thought of a way to protest that wasn’t going to affect the people at the bottom of the pile of badly. I also wish I’d known about this months ago. Feeling crap!
