I'm interested to know what everyone thinks. Trubbs has, in another thread, mentioned the fact that we are now in the Year of the Rabbit (according to the Chinese) and as I was born in the Year of the Tiger and am absolutely nothing like they say I should be, I thought I'd start this thread to find out everyone's opinion on astrology. I'm a Piscean and apparently I'm sensitive, I react emotionally to everything, I'm fairminded and I'd make an excellent judge (HA!). I'm none of those things, I'm afraid. I'm quite hard-hearted at times really. Funny thing is that the two character types that I'm supposed to be (Tiger and Pisces) are complete opposites as well.

Quicksilver mind, split personality. It's unlucky to be superstitious. It's 100% bunkum. (Though your Chinese one seems to match you pretty well. I'm Pig & Fire. [insert insult here])

I'm not keen on the fact that I'm a Piscean though. All wet and scaley.

There's more truth in this than I like to admit:
The Taurus personality is one of the most easily recognizable of the zodiac. These are steady, reliable people who only rarely get frazzled or upset. Like a bull, the Taurus personality will almost never lose course and will remain level no matter what chaos surrounds him. Taurus knows his own strength but usually handles situations with dignity and self-control. Push him too far, though, and the Taurus individual can suddenly turn into a raging bull, and once this happens, he will be difficult to calm. And oh yes, lest we forget, the Taurus individual is stubborn - the most stubborn of all the zodiac signs. Once he forms an opinion, he is immovable, and nothing will change his mind. Taurus likes the good life, but tends to be careful with money, slowly building up wealth as he goes. Not all Taureans are rich, but you won't find many at the very bottom of society.

Eek!!!
Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac, and that shouldn't be taken lightly -- nor should Scorpios! Those born under this sign are dead serious in their mission to learn about others. There's no fluff or chatter for Scorpios, either; these folks will zero in on the essential questions, gleaning the secrets that lie within. Scorpios concern themselves with beginnings and endings, and are unafraid of either; they also travel in a world that is black and white and has little use for gray. The curiosity of Scorpios is immeasurable, which may be why they are such adept investigators. These folks love to probe and know how to get to the bottom of things. The fact that they have a keen sense of intuition certainly helps.

But the thing is, any zodiac sign you read about what they're supposed to be 'like', you can apply to yourself. That's the pyschology behind it.
For instance, Scorpios are supposed to be loyal, passionate, etc. . . who wouldn't say 'yes, that's me' if they were told they were 'like' that?
It's bunkum to a large extent. Astrology.
Where it may have some grain of truth in it is that, the time of year you were born, may very well have some kind of affect on your personality. However, the precise effect of the timing of your birth will depend on your culture and the weather where you were born.

Mrs YI is Taurus. Maybe about half of that matches her. I think she would agree.

Riot said "But the thing is, any zodiac sign you read about what they're supposed to be 'like', you can apply to yourself. That's the pyschology behind it." . . . James Randi is a famous debunker of anything that needs a thorough debunking.

And, do you know what? For all that I've said, this is Mr. E. down to a T. Everything, in fact. Stubborn, careful with money, steady, rarely gets frazzled. I once told him that he'd be the one I'd choose to be with on a desert island as he's good in tough situations. Plus I'd miss him if he wasn't there, of course. However, I think Riot is correct, in that it probably depends what time of the year you're born. Funny how the Scorpio character sounds just like Riot too! Note: Scorpio & Pisces are water signs and are compatible. Not that I believe all that stuff, of course, but it's nice to know.

Hasn't it all moved round, so we're actually all in the next star sign now?
James Randi is great - a bit slapdash in some ways, but still great. I once saw a programme where some Russian psychic tried to do a cold reading on him, and then blamed him when she got everything wrong (he refused to react to any of her statements/questions).

Us typical Taureans don't believe in all that stuff.....
